I see a dark future ahead

I am actually contemplating the future of this blog.

I guess the deadly virus that disallows me to get my creative juices flowing is stuck to me for good. I do not intend to blog anymore after this post, but I may change my mind, I think.

A quick update on my life. I had my medical checkup yesterday and oddly, my right hand still feels numb from the blood test I had.

The urine test was really embarrassing because I sat outside the room for half an hour, gulping down cups of water before I could pee. And nurses who popped in and out of the room couldn't help but giggle as they watch me in my desperate attempt to make my bladder full.

And it was funny when I had to take the chest x-ray, for the nurse who attended to me said "Hug this okay. It's your new boyfriend." And so, I made an attempt to hug my new boyfriend. And I passed the hugging test. Hahah.

And I stole crackers from the lounge while waiting to pee. They were sugared crackers, I couldn't help it. Maybe it's because they've removed the vending machines with the yummy food inside.

And there's this fly that's annoying me.

I know you touched it. Hahaha.

Which One Are You?

A close family friend recently found out that I have been blogging again. I don't know why, but I don't like telling people, even family and friends, that I have a blog, nor do I like asking them whether or not, they have been reading my posts.

But this family friend asked me some questions which I have been pondering for a very long time. But I have finally came up with a few answers which I am pretty much satisfied with.

Well, here are the questions:

  • What type of Blogger are you?
Some people, like Xiaxue are termed as Famous Bloggers. They are paid to advertise certain places and products through their posts. Now this benefits both the person who is paying the blogger, and the blogger themselves. Now this is because, the person who is paying the blogger will, without a doubt, get mush greater boost (amount depends on how many people reads and believes the blogger that is advertising the product). This will of course boost his income and so on. The blogger wil not lose out. This is because they may get more than cash. What I mean is, that they may get sponsored by the companies, and this can definitely come in handy when you're a little down on cash.

But other than advertising, bloggers(some) , to me, are like the online versions of paparazzis. They are the quickest at getting photographs of celebrities that have leaked out to the net, they are also the first to know about the hottest topics of celebs as well. One famous "online paparazzi"'s site that I head to occasionally would be Perez Hilton.

But putting the term "Blogger" aside, there are, in fact others who own blogs, and do not term themselves as bloggers at all. Some of them prefer to be called online journalists. And one of them who's site I visit every once in a while, would be Matthew Zachary Liu.

In my opinion, online journalists are people who reflect alot. Most online journalists' sites which I have been to, are mostly filled with beautiful photographs of events and places that they have been to. But they not only talk about themselves. In fact, they do share opinions of issues, like the US precedency, the rise of ERP and so on. These are the people who fill their sites with "stories" just like how we update our diaries back in school days.

Now it boils down to me. Well, I don't really see myself as a blogger nor do I see myself as an online journalist. I just have blog to share the stories of my life, important events, things and people that are close to my heart, and definitely issues which I have strong opinions on. I do occasionally blog about "paparazzi" issues. So, I'm kinda' stuck in-between. But if I were to have a term for myself, it would simply be, A person who has a blog, that's it!
  • Why did you start blogging?
It all started out when I was in Secondary Two. I thought that it would be cool, since all my friends were having one too. I took this chance to talk about issues that I had in school, and at home. But it wasn't really enjoyable because all I did was nag, rant, complain and accuse. It felt really negative. But after I joined Nuffnang, and had events to talk about, my entire blog became different, as it wasn't feel with so much negatvity anymore.
  • What have you learned from it?
Just like having Dairies, blogs are tools that help you reflect on your actions, and make you question yourself, whether what you did, could be done any better. It makes you think alot, and you start feeling not for yourself, but for your close ones as well.

I also learned how irritating it gets when people plagairise you. I have not, and shall continue to not plagairise anyone. I learned that plagairism is a crime and idiots should wreck their own brain juices to post about something, rather than get all the fame from someone else's hard work.

Words can mean differently to different people. When I say "How's the atmosphere down there?", friends would take it as a joke. But to strangers who don't know me at all, they would immediately go "wah lao, so rude. She so tall meh?"So if you really want to share your opinions on something or someone, do mind your language.

I also learned that in order to have more people to read about your posts, one should never post about daily events, by literally typing "Oh i woke up at 6.30 then went toilet to brush teeth. Brush already then took shower. Shower already then hungry then go eat breakfast. After that sian mah, so watch tv loh. Watch le, still sian, then i fall asleep on the couch. but soon after, kena wake up by my parents quarrel. they so kb, then i slam the door go out find friends loh. no one free, then i go kopitiam sit down until late at night. after that i go home loh. go home, no one at home. then i go eat dinner, my mum cook si beh best. then eat full full, then watch tv a while. then very late liao, then go sleep loh." And the whole cycle continues the next day.
  • If you could have a career in blogging, would you take it up?
If it is a side line job, I wouldn't mind taking it up. But I don't think that I am good enough, nor can I stand the hours of fine-tuning the words just to make all the advertisements sound right. My passion is still in teaching, kids and animals, and I don't think I will let that go any time soon. Blogging is just a hobby to me. I do it for fun, and nothing more or less than that.

So are you a blogger or an online journalist?

Don't give up

I guess people have the point of time in Lifr where they question not only themselves but their beliefs. We often in doubt, so much that we turn to others for words of advice, and encouragement.

I would like to thank all those who tagged on my blog, encouraging me not to give up blogging. These little words of encouragement do make a difference as it shows that there are at least some people out there who appreciate reading my blog; with the interests that I share in my Life.

Putting that aside, I would like to add that today's the last day for the Games Convention Asia 2008. Click Here.

It's FREE . And if you'd like to get a chance to play EA's newest game, SPORE, you'd better hurry up!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This week has passed rather quickly, despite the dreadfulness of recieving the examination results and the continuous "encouraging and inspiring" nags from the disappointed teachers.

I would not say that I am very delighted with my results, nor am I disappointed with them. It's more of a so-so kind of feeling.

But this week showed me how examinations can affect people, especially my friends. They either pressurize themselves by breaking down and forcing themselves to study every single day from now onwards, or they just GIVE UP.

I've never been that stressed out for exams before, so I have no idea on what to say or do when I see friends breaking down (especially this) , stressing out or simply giving up. But all I can say now is that, no matter what, never let it control you, you always have the upperhand in things, so don't give up.

I hate it when people use the word "HOW".

I grew up in a family who rarely used the word HOW. Instead we find alternatives that may help to solve the problem. We found solutions, not add problems to worsen, and so over the years, I became more and more intolerant to people, especially the whiney ones who always asked "HOW?" And so I'd like to apologize if I had blown up at anyone when the "HOW" word was used, because time to time, it's really sickening to see someone whine "how this, how that" so much, instead of finding a way out. hahah.

Is my BLog Good Enough

This is definitely not a post to add more traffic to my blog, but rather a post to gather feedback from the people behind the screens (hahah).

I've been pondering over it for quite a long time. And I've yet to come up with a final decision. And so, I'd like to ask the people in the cyberworld.

See, I've been thinking of shutting this blog down.

I started this blog with one of the cheesiest URLs in the whole wide world; Lifeisjustlikeadreamtome.blogspot.com.

Yup, that long and stupid. And the posts were mainly about my daily routines where I rant annoyingly and idiotically about the little bums in Life (the twits in my school, back then). Obviously it was boring and soon blogging became more like a chore to me, where I realised that the only people reading my blog was myself, my reflection and close friends.

But I hung on.

I deleted that blog.The Reason

And started a new one, the present one; sitandwhine.blogspot.com

The URL was created mainly due to the fact that I used to think that bloggers were people who sat infront of their computer screens to rant about their horrible day. And so, SitAndWhine stuck with me till now.

Apparently I did not learn my lesson and continued blogging like the same old way, but this time, it was even more boring as there weren't any hot juicy anti-twit gossips to blog about.

Soon after, (after I was exposed to the blogosphere), my blogging style started changing. I still choose to believe that blogging isn't really my cup of tea, but over the years, I've actually grown out of the "ranting" shell and decided to turn the chore of blogging into something more edifying, and that was, to blog with a passion.

Over the years, I have received mix comments about my blog. Some said it was just a waste of space in the blogosphere while some others encouraged me to keep blogging because they were entertained by my posts. I was delighted as I became aware that there are people out there who do appreciate my passion for blogging. But with more exposure to the blogosphere (Thanks to Nuffnang and omy.sg), I was nervous, and was more or so careful in terms I use in my posts. I gained motivation to blog, from the encouragements, and tried to tweak according to the criticisms I received. But, obviously I can't please anyone. And to add salt to the wound, there have been more and more criticisms lately.

It's the traffic of people visiting my blog, but rather the feedback from friends after they had read my blog, that bothers me. Their feedback have definitely discouraged me and although I am hesitant to give up my passion for it, I also do not want to be a mere "space" in the blogosphere.

So is my blog good enough to stay or should I close it down?

Blog Awards ceremony

Well, unfortunately the judges weren't impressed with my song and I did not win the "Youth Blogger" title. I want to cry so badly...

Hahaha, no, I'm kidding. I wasn't expecting to win, and like I said before it is already a priviledge to be amongst the Top 10 Youth Blogger finalists in Singapore.
I had a great time, especially for the Movie screenings and the Ghost Festival Post.

But,

Congratulations to Cheryl aka. Witch Yuki for winning the Youth Blogger title!

Anyway, the ceremony was great. It was located at the Asian Civilisation Museum and I brought my mum there with me. We entered the River Room and were greeted with Food! Yes, we had a buffet dinner there before the results were released.

The food wasn't too bad, there was a variety of food, but some of them actually fell short of taste. But it was still okay.

After the meal, my mum and I headed out to the balcony for a breather and was taken away by the beautiful scene before us. It was basically just the buildings in Raffles, but it seemed as though they came alive in the Night Life. I looked down from the balcony and saw a beautiful restaurant that had a very "cool" ambience, where guests were seated very much like a Lounge Room, but it was outdoors. It set a very dark atmosphere as the sofas were black and there were minimal light present, only from the BLue glow from the frosted bar table.

I was about snap a photo of it, but before I could, we were actually asked to head back inside as the ceremony was starting.

One reason why I hate going to "gatherings" like this, is because if you hardly know anyone, you would be darn lonely. And for my mum and I, we weren't really paying much attention to it, because we were tired of standing (yes, that's the only critic I have, no chairs!) and we were checking out the different types of people there. David Gan, the famous hairstylist was present, and boy, he sure was one great character!

Anyway, the only person that I talked to, at the event, was the Events Co-odinator for the event. He asked how the Food and Ambience were, and why I was here. He was Hot! Hahah.

But speaking about the ambience, it was really a "romantic" or rather soothing scene, and I especially liked the Lights.

The ceremony ended on time, at nine, and I was one of the "kiasu" ones to leave, and so I didn't stay for the photo-taking sessions.

But once I stepped out of the Museum, a strong gust of wind crossed my path, and blew us to Indonesia + China + Thailand = ?

Photobucket

I closed my eyes, and chanted repeatedly "there's no place like home", and when I opened my eyes, I was at another place!

Check out the White House..

Photobucket

It does look like Singapore's Fullerton Hotel though.. Hmm..

Anyway, I wandered around, and had some lovely chats with the locals there.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Really hardworking, and lovely people. I had a great time there, I even went swimming with a bunch of cute, naked boys! My mum couldn't help but burst into fits of laughter when she saw the little kids' exposed "brothers".

Photobucket

When I got up to dry off, I was mesmerized by a beautiful lamp post

Photobucket

And before I knew it, I was back in Singapore, standing near the Fullerton's Hotel!

Photobucket

The Esplanade, the Singapore Flyer, and some other beautiful buildings.

Photobucket

And the pretty fountain at the Entrance of Fullerton Hotel

Photobucket

It sounds very much like the Wizard of OZ, but this time there weren't any OZ nor wizard. But I was exhausted, and so I headed home, in the magical "Harry Potter" train with my mum.

And that was how my day ended.

Bye, loves.

School support us, Youth Bloggers?

A few days back, a reporter from Shin Min daily called me for a phone interview. It was an interview about this post.

Where I talked about the incident that "Sidelinedstudent" had with his school, taken from Omy.sg

The reporter was really nice and jovial, and she asked question pertaining to the incident, like how I felt about sidelinedstudent not being supported by his school, how I felt about my school, why my school did not support youth bloggers, and basically every curious question any one would have asked to dig out more information.

The reporter was shocked when I told her that teachers were on Facebook and Friendsters, and would accept our friend requests, without being anonymous.

I told her many reasons to why my school did not support blogging, and I even recalled incidents where teachers approached me about my posts. I also revealed about how some students were asked to delete their blogs, because it contained mentionings of the school.

I wouldn't be surprised if this hoo-haa about schools supporting bloggers, comes out in the newspaper. And in a way, I guess it's good, such that schools who are reading this, would be aware of how we students feel, and how we actually regard them as important parts of our lives, that is why we inform them of our happenings.

Every single student are ambassadors of the school, and we should have responsibility to blog, be it about the school or any other things. But I feel that if a student blogs about a "bad thing" (let's say, a teacher made a rude remark about him because he was always late for school. Calling him a rebellion and slacker, without finding the actual truth behing things) that happened in school, I don't think it should be counted as irresponsible because the student is merely expressing how injustice was shown by the school, to him.

Even if my school were to approach me and ask me to stop blogging, and lecture me about the importance of studying, being that it is the O'level year, I would not stop blogging. Because as I had told the reporter, blogging is not only a hobby but a talent and passion. Not everyone can blog interestingly, and I do believe that blogging can bring people far.

Although there are plenty of plus-points of the interview, such as the school being more aware of how we feel of blogging, and that they should lighten up, I personally feel that the schools would keep a closer eye on those who are bloggers.

And though I have said alot about my school, I somehow fear that they would turn nasty towards me. It's my O'level year and I don't want anything bad to happen that might debar me from taking the National Exams.

But if the school debars me, then wouldn't there be an issue where "School bans student from exam because of blogging"? hahha, I love the press.

Voting sessions end tomorrow!

As I went through the blogs of the 70 finalists of omy.sg, I was struck with the fact that the voting for the favourite finalists, was going to end tomorrow.

I'm sure every finalist, would have the "kan chiong" period, where they're encouraging people to vote for them.

Photobucket

It's really hilarious seeing it, and I can't deny the shame of having the "kiasu Singapore" fever, as I am also one of them, seeking for voters. hahah. But no one can blame us right?

I'm not in the TOP 3 most voted title, and so I can say goodbye to the LG phones. But it's okay(throws knives and glares at winners, haha), because afterall, I believe that all the finalists are here to befriend one another, and to be exposed to more unique styles of blogging.

I for one, have seen many interesting sites, and have actually bookmarked some of them, to keep as personal favourites.

Speaking of votes, I read here...

That a Youth finalist, approached his teacher, seeking her help to ask the school to vote, hoping that the school would support him and another finalist. However, what came back was a shock, because instead of appreciating the efforts of the finalists in aiding in making the school more popular, the finalist's request was turned down.

I guess it's disheartening to know that despite your efforts to make a school a better place, the school in return, "repays" the kindness by ever so gratefully rejecting it.

Unfortunately, my school happens to fall in somewhat the same category, where teachers discourage the students to own a blog. They even brought up the ongoing issue "Dawn Yang Vs. XiaXue", saying that it poses a so-called threat to those irresponsible bloggers, who are waiting for trouble to come knocking on their door. A friend of mine was even asked to delete her blog, because it contained unsightly or I feel, THE TRUTH about the school.

I know that there are some teachers who read our blogs, and I personally feel happy that teachers are making an effort to get to know their students better by being a step ahead of others, and connecting to us through the net.

But I'm glad that I did not approach my school to help me in the votings because I'll definitely have my parents being called up, and at the same time, have to face the teachers and highest in hierachy, to lecture me about the importance of studies, being that it's the O' level year.

But even so, I would like to thank all those who helped vote for me, from friends, to classmates, to schoolmates, to strangers who visit my blog. I do hope that after this voting session is done, there would still be visitors to my blog, not to vote but to continue supporting me in my passion for blogging.

Here's Rihanna's latest MV, Disturbia. The MV is kinda' freaky, it reminds me of "Thir13en Ghosts".

But I think the beats of th song, is nice.

ENJOY!

Friendship

This week made me lose a lot of sleep. Not because of the upcoming exams, or school work, but because I lay in bed drifting in and out of sleep, as I ponder on the importance of Friendship.

For secondary school kids, nothing matters more to them, than their love life, friends, studies and family. This is the age where adolescence often commit suicide because ' they can't live without their other half' and stupid stuff like that.

Life was never meant to be complicated, but it's humans, us, who make a whole complication out of everything. Everyone wished that they could return to the past, when they were kids. Making friends with everyone, be it the Popiah seller, or the Karang Guni (rag and bones) man. As kids, we accepted others for who they are, and faced the world with s big wide smile, living life with purity and simplicity, and no fear at all. The only fear was the boogey-man under my bed.

I've always treasured my friends and used to be in denial that friendships do had to end. Because believe it or not, friends are the ones who shape us into special individuals. It's the experiences we shared, be it a lot or little, and with a pinch of our own personality, that makes us who we are. And the funny thing is that we never realized it.

I never believed in Friends falling apart, only in drifting apart. But time proved me wrong.

Time meant that I grew older, and so many things changed. My face changed, my body changed, and the people around me changed, my Friends changed too.

My primary school friends were inseparable. We were by each other whenever any of us were down. We shared secrets and swore to stay in contact after the PSLE. But now we are separated, drifting further apart. I've lost contact with many of them, and though some are still contactable, we are not as close as last time.

Secondary school friends are treasured. I gained so many friends, but learning from past experiences, I swore never to be too close to anyone, for the separation made me ache more.
And I've been trying to keep my head cool about a lot of things, choosing not to fuss about them. But this week changed everything, I was made to look at friendship from a whole new perspective.

I never thought of myself as one of them to end a friendship. But this week made me feel the moment where I wasn't as eager than usual, to see my friend. Instead I grew more and more upset about the things my friend did. I saw through her motives, and slowly grew uncomfortable around her.

People around me tell me that it's an indication that the friendship is about to end. But I'm holding on. Because as badly as I want to end it, I want to save it. It's an in between feeling.

But will friends stay friends forever?

I've seen people make friends through blogging, and even lose great friends by the same method.

And at every corner that I turn to, I see strangers being friends, friends to lovers, and lovers back to friends and in the end, friends to strangers. It's a strange world.

Let's leave it at that.

But all I can say for now is, love those who love you, and love those you've never loved before. Help make other live life meaningfully, and understand each character before you judge. Let the people around you feel joy, love and be touched by you. For every Life you touch, makes you a better person. Who knows, you might even unravel the mysteries in Life.

And to my friend, I hope things can be better.

Dedicated to Everyone out there.

Love all.

World's Oldest Blogger

If you have read the newspapers a few days back, you'd notice of a topic that was covered, "World's Oldest Blogger".

Yes, my post today will be about the late "World's Oldest Blogger".

She's none other than OLIVE RILEY.

Photobucket

Taken from Wikipedia.org:

Olive Riley (October 20, 1899 – July 12, 2008) was an Australian woman, believed to have been the world's oldest blogger.

She began her blog The Life of Riley in February 2007 at the age of 107 and made her final post on June 26, 2008 from a nursing home in Woy Woy, New South Wales, complaining of a cough about two weeks before she died at the age of 108. She had posted over 70 entries, as well as several video posts on YouTube.

A video of her singing :

Her actual blog is here. Click

A temporary blog of hers, that is edited by her friends. Click

I think Olive Riley is an inspiration, not to the older generation, but to the future generations as well. Olive showed that she was capable of making herself useful, and being "updated" in the present generation by blogging.

She should be a role model to fellow elderly who think that they are useless, and a burden to their families. Olive proved that she is still young at heart, and capable of doing many things, such as blogging, that people would not expect elderly to do.

To all those who are seeking for sympathy, take a look at how this 108 year old lady was capable of touching many other lives. She showed that she was not going to be someone who would wait for death to come knocking on her door, but rather keep active, so that her mind and body are fit to delay death.

People always say that life's too short, but I think that Life is the longest thing you can ever have. So don't waste it, but make it useful, make yourself useful, and live a Life like how Olive did.

She brought joy to her life, and brought joy to others in her Life.

By the way, I'm rooting for LAO ZHA BOR at "http://laozhabor.blogspot.com/" to be the next oldest blogger!

Blogger who rose to fame by blogging about her sex life

Everyone points a finger at others whenever the topic of being "attention seeking" is brought up. i was one of them back then, but I got to admit, that I realized that being a blogger, somehow means that you attention, bad.

Bloggers are attention seekers, no? Because we often "brag" about things, from cool stuff we did,

Photobucket

to awards we are running for.

Photobucket

And yet feel so natural about it.

But different bloggers use different techniques or rather topics to talk about, in order to get the limelight. And today's post will be about bloggers who use sex to gain fame.

Yes, SEX

I know I'm underage to talk about it, but it's not as if I'm showing porn or anything, I'm just discussing this issue.

Anyway, I got rather interested in a blogger, who gained fame by blogging about her sex life. But she claims that she does not use sex, but rather her personality, to get her readers attention.

If you're wondering, she's other than China's famous blogger, li li who's famously known as Muzi Mei.

Taken from wikipedia.org
:

Muzi Mei (木子美 Mùzǐ Měi) or Mu Zimei or Mu Zi Mei or Muzimei (born 1978) is the alias (nom de plume) of a young female journalist and blogger from Guangzhou in the People's Republic of China, who became a notorious household name in China in late 2003. Her real name is Li Li (李丽 Lǐ Lì) -- note that "Muzi" (木子) becomes "Li" () when the characters are stacked vertically, and "Mei" () and "Li" () are synonyms (both mean "beautiful"). Her blog contained frank descriptions of her sexual encounters with various men, which was a first for China.

More information of her can be taken from here

Anyway, here's a video of her being interviewed.

I don't want to comment much, but I think she's one of a kind, for being brave enough to stand out from the rest, believing in what she does, without fearing what others think of her.

I'm okay with people showcasing a different opinion on how we view things, but I feel a slight discomfort at the next blogger.

This blogger,

SELLS USED UNDERGARMENTS.

Maybe like Muzi Mei, she has a different view of how to quick start a business online?
Maybe it's a new trend to start selling used garments now? I don't know, but I'm sure not a fan of it.

I'm a 16 year old blogger

Many have told me that I don't blog like my age. I don't know of it's a compliment or criticism.
But what puzzles me the most is that, how do people my age blog?

Do they rant all day about cartoons; like what do Pokemon evolve into?

Pokemon will never die!!

or much more mature cartoons; like how wolverine should be the leader of X-men revolution, and not Storm?

x men evolucion

Do they even talk about cartoons? Youths my age, laugh at people who watch cartoons, because it's "not cool". But I love watching cartoons.

Some Youths tend to blog about fashion, popular places they go to and all the latest trend. Labeling themselves as POPULAR, looking down on "people who don't wear classy clothes", who remind them of historical man apes.

:)

My school mates call them Bimbos and Himbos. But are all youths becoming like that?

Do young bloggers blog by bragging about their traffic flow all day? Or do they stalk famous bloggers online, and "copy and paste" everything?

So how do bloggers my age blog? I have ran out of ideas, and if you have any idea, voice it out.

But i still think Being a Young blogger does have a disadvantage though. As explained here: Click

No?

How can Omy.sg do this to me?

I feel really depressed. If you read my previous day's entry, you would have realized that two kind souls actually stayed up till 12am to help me out with my pictures for om.sg (promoting of voting phase for top 10 finalists).

Photobucket

In fact, Shera was still up at 3am to send me the finalized piece. I'm really touched and I am going to get something for both Khairul and Shera to thank them, of course.

Anyway, I woke up this morning and eagerly switched on my computer to send the 2 pictures to Omy.sg. In case you're wondering what's with the taking of pictures, it's actually a "project" to aid omy.sg in publicizing the voting phase, and thus we have to take 2 pictures of our hands, doing something that symbolizes blogging.

I came up with two ideas and snapped some pictures of my hand, keyboard and newspaper articles, before sending it to Shera and Khiarul. They noted every single detail that I wanted and this is what the 2 finalized piece looks like.

Photobucket

The first picture actually consists of my hand, a keyboard and a newspaper article on famous blogger, mr Brown. The hand on keyboard is actually acting as a surfer, who surfs (the net) for news on latest blog posts and famous bloggers.

Photobucket

The second picture consist of my hand, on a keyboard, with the words only as B L O G. this shows that bloggers definitely need their hands on the keyboard 24/7 as they're addicted to blogging.

I sent my pictures to marketing@omy.sg and happily switched off my computer before heading to school.

I got home later at 7pm and was devastated when I checked my email.

Hi, attached are my 2 pictures to aid in the publicizing of the voting phase. The first picture is of my hand, on a keyboard, gliding on a news paper article about bloggers. I feel the hand on keyboard represents the whole "surfing the net" and the newspaper artcle represents bloggers, as well as news for fellow bloggers to blog about. The second picture, is of my hand, on a keyboard which only reads the letters B L O G. I think that this really shows that bloggers are addicted to blogging. I hope like the pictures! Thanks, Kethlyn"

Apparently omy.sg's email is full and I cannot send in my pictures!!! Furthermore, it's already 8pm and the dateline was at 6pm! How can!!!

I'm really disappointed. There goes Shera and Khairul's effort in helping me, and there goes mine, in wishing to aid in the publicizing.

I'm really sad now, I hope Omy.sg comes up with some solution quick.

XiaXue made it hot, So now it's your turn?

I've been checking out Nuffnang's innit posts and I don't really get the big hoo-haa over alot of things, especially with fellow bloggers now "identifying" disgusting bloggers and thus ranking them based on how disgusting they are.

XiaXue made the topic hot back in 2007, ranking bloggers like Steven Lim, Ice angel, Maia Lee and even Lao Zha Bor. Her post is here

That did create an uproar and many weren't pleased with her post. However, the fuss soon died down and may didn't bring it up. Until recently...

It seems as though almost every blogger is trying to "gain attention/fame" by posting lists of disgusting bloggers so that people would read, and thus increase their traffic flow to their blog.

I'm not bothered about the traffic flow at all. What I'm bothered about, is the fact that everyone is coying each other, by listing bloggers as disgusting!

how would you feel if you were one of the those who is listed as disgusting? You may be thick skinned and shrug it off as the most hilarious thing you've ever heard. But not everyone is like that isn't it?

Besides, blogging sites like Nuffnang has aims and that is to bring fellow bloggers together, Not destroy everyone by having them blog about each other.

I don't really know, but I think the blogosphere is lacking originality and everyone is copying each other lately. Where have all the wondrous posts full of originality and creativity gone? Is this what is becoming of fellow bloggers?

XiaXue made it hot, but that doesn't mean you MUST copy her. Get your own Hot topic.

I LOVE MY APPLE!!

This post is specially for the blogging competition that is being hosted by Nuffnang. In case you have no idea what it is, you can click here

Anyway, this competition is actually about one's love for Apple products. No, not literally a real apple.

apple

But, It's this one!

apple:)

Anyway, if you still have no idea what are the differences between the two pictures above, you can actually head to Apple's website(online store) here

Now, I love Apple products, because they're not only trim and sleek(everyone wants something that looks nice, and slim right?), but have functions that are the eighth wonder of the world, so much that heads will turn when they see you carry an Apple product that never fails to make anyone, look like a prodigy. I'm not kidding, it's not some copy and paste thing.

I for one, have always been envious of whoever who owns an Apple product. The products are simply irresistible, that I feel like snatching from those who own them.

Anyway, enough talk about the products as a whole. I need to touch on the point of the post, and that is, my favourite Apple product.

Apple products range from a large variety from a large range of MacBooks(Air, Pro, Mini),

macbook

to Imac,

iMac

And lastly, to Ipods!

ipod

Apple iPod

Among all those stunning products, I have to vote for the 'Ipod Touch' as my favourite Apple product!

(Taken from wikipedia.org)

The iPod touch has the iPhone's multi-touch interface, with a physical home button off the touch screen. The home screen has a list of buttons for the available applications. All iPod touch models have included the applications Music, Videos, and Photos (collectively duplicating the standard functions of the iPod classic), iTunes (providing access to the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store), Safari, YouTube, Calendar, Contacts, Clock, Calculator, and Settings. Later models added Mail (accessing POP/IMAP/SMTP e-mail), Maps, Stocks, Notes, and Weather, which could also be added to the earlier models with the purchase of a software upgrade. Direct links to web sites can be added to the home screen by the user.

The iPod touch is equipped with Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, and, like the iPhone, includes the Safari browser and a viewing client for YouTube. The device's Wi-Fi capabilities can also be used to buy music from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store. Also like the iPhone, the iPod touch currently does not support the 802.1X authentication method, making connectivity to certain private networks impossible, even when authorized. The iPod touch 2.0 Software Update will support WPA2 Enterprise with 802.1X authentication.

Though this heavenly product seems flawless, it is apparently not so true.

It lacks some of the iPhone's features: access to any phone network, an internal speaker, a microphone, a camera, physical buttons for volume control, and Bluetooth capability. The iPod touch uses software-based volume controls which require users to double-tap the home button, bringing up an on-screen slider.

But, who can resist the temptation of owning such a magnificent product? It's slim and definitely lighter than the Iphone. So if I don't love it, who will?

Singapore Blog Awards - Youth category

A while back, I signed up for a "competition" in this Site
. As time went by, I totally forgot about it and was quite shocked when I received a call from one of their staff, informing me that I was one of the top 10 finalists for the Youth category. I wasn't that sure, as the "competition" had slipped passed my mind. But as soon as I hung up the phone, I immediately went to check out their site.

Boy, was I happy. I have never won any "competition" from blogging, well it isn't really winning, but achieving the top 10 is already a great accomplishment to me!

All I need right now, is for you readers to vote for me!

All you have to do, is go to this Site
and hover over a picture of a girl in an orangey background. If it reads http://www.sitandwhine.blogspot.com, Click on it and vote for me! (Just one more great excuse to tell your parents that you need to use the computer! Lol)

Of course, no one leaves empty handed. Because I found out that voters can actually stand to win prizes by actually voting! There is a daily quota of one vote per category per day, which means that you can vote daily, to increase your chances!

now, you might be wondering, what do I win if I vote? Well, you actually stand a chance to win travel packages to Bangkok, Vietnam and a luxurious resort accommodation package in Phuket. Isn't that good? Who doesn't need a break from all this stress in Life isn't it? What's more you don't have to spend much effort, but to just vote for your favourite blogger per category everyday!

I'm not holding a knife and forcing you to vote for me. No, you actually can vote for others, because I feel that one should gain votes only if your readers like your blog, and think that you stand a chance to win.

So I guess, all i can say is, Vote for me, if you think I deserve it! (voting till 31st July)

By the way, I need ideas because I have to submit photos of my hand, doing anything i think, is symbolic to blogging. The dateline is 4th July. I'm running out of ideas, and I need help! Please? Leave a comment if you do have any idea. Your ideas will be much appreciated!!

Blogging = Good or Bad?

The post today, is about blogging: Is blogging good or bad for you?

We live in a world where people tend to focus more on the bad side of things than the good. The internet, for example, has been a hot debate to whether it causes harm or benefits you.

When children don't do well in their studies, parents tend to blame the internet, and computer games for the bad results. Parents always ground or "ban" their kids from using the computer till they achieve better grades. But who or what is to be blame? Shouldn't the kids be blamed for not working hard enough, and neglecting schoolwork for games? Or should the schools, or even parents be blamed for continuously stressing out the kids, causing them to "freak out" or be rebellious?

Blogging is another big issue.

People gain fame (in a good way or bad) from blogging. Some, even benefit from their blogs because it not only brings them fame, but fortune as well.

I for one, don't necessarily blog for fame nor fortune, but for the mere fun of it. Blogging has been a useful tool for me, because not only does it expand my creativity, it also enables me to search for things/issues to blog about. I also blog-hop frequently. Thus, by doing so, I can update myself on all the latest buzz, be it in the entertainment industry or worldwide catastrophes. I'd say it's a rather interesting way to update ourselves.

On the other hand, a lot of people, including my dad are not huge fans of blogging. My dad thinks that it causes corruption of minds just from merely clicking from blog to blog.

Some blogs, true enough (it's either they want to gain fame from this sort of stuff or they think it's cool posting them) post about sex scandals and nude photos. People had posts about Paris Hilton's sex tape, High School Musical's Gabriella (Vanessa Anne Hudgens) nude phots. There were even posts about Singapore's very own sex diva: Tammy aka NYP scandal. I bet there's going to be more.

Posts like these not only bring unwanted attention to the victims(but I think Paris doesn't mind) but also to the fellow blogger who posted it. But it does increase you traffic flow though.Come on, who wouldn't click on a post with a title: "Crazy hot sex tapes and nude photos!!!"? Majority of us would, and to worsen things, amateurs who try hard to be accepted by fellow friends who have watched it, would click on it too, just so that they can be "cool" too, and discuss it together.

It's posts like these that are being circulated around and innocent minds and eyes are stained with "bad stuff".

So, is blogging good, or bad for you?

5retarded ways to grab attention

Physics was one hell of a killer paper. Preparation for it was a total waste of time (for me).

oh well.

I was blog hopping earlier on, after revising for Chemistry and I stumbled upon blogs that actually tried really hard to grab attention in order to gain fame in the blogosphere. Let's count down to......

5 RETARDED WAYS TO GRAB ATTENTION!

5. People who post nonsensical stuff and try to get fame in Nuffnang and some other advertisement sites (Don't get me wrong, sites like nuffnang are sites to advertise your blogging skills, but with retarded posts, why even bother posting in 'innit'? If I were any of you, I wouldn't post it there, to save myself from great humiliation) by saying that "If you don't click, you're making a big mistake." or, "I post about all the coolest stuff here, you shouldn't miss it!!"

And once you naively click on the site, disgust wraps you as you gasp for air, after seeing that the blog has posts entirely about "muaaii good boiifwen", "moii siistarhxz" and so on.

Oh, and if have post about people who type every single detail of their life.

"I was awoken by my mother's nagging. I tried covering my ears but cannot, so i bobian wake up then go toilet loh. In the toilet I go pang sai, then I bathe for 15 minutes. Bathe le, i go brush teeth for 2 minutes. Finish liao then I go kitchen ask mum cook what. She say cook beehoon then I say ok loh. Then I go watch TV. No nice show mah, so I go room Dota loh. Dota sian then I come here blog loh. I chatting online with dearie too. Then hear mother shout at me then I off comp go see what happen.

edited--

I'm back, after mum nag at me then I sian then I go back to my room loh. Fall asleep while chatting with dear, then she angry. bobian.. I come blog loh."

So much for being "a huge mistake" if I miss the site.

I wouldn't mind reading some Bimbo's blog because it really entertains me, to see "how cool things are, you know. And you know, the other day... I heard Paris Hilton got engaged to some guy, totally gross, you know. And like.. I think I'm like so cool, you know. Yeah.."

At least it's more interesting than old mundane every day routine.

4. People who post scandalous photos of them, either with their boyfriends in bed, or in skimpy clothing that doesn't cover much, or have their cleavage showing or even in nude.

I mean come on, blogs are personal diaries that are shown in public. If you're so willing to show your body off to let 'cheeko-peks' ogle at you, then you should jolly well be a prostitute, you get paid for selling your body, rather than plainly showing it online for free.

And stop asking people whether your inflated cheeks makes you "cute marhx".

I don't know much about make-up but what's with the over-drawn eye-liner? Trying to being Cleopatra back to life? It doesn't work here.

But I have to give a standing ovation to these people though. I mean with the the present corrupted mindset of people, these people (number 3) can rapidly increase their traffic in their blogs by their pictures of with posts about sex, and all the hot steamy stuff that can make people start fantasizing.

But it's still retarded.

3. People who visit other people's blog and ask them to link them. Even to people who hey have no idea who they are, they'll ask them to link them. Why? Gain fame mah.. More people know me what.

Come on lah, unless you're as famous as Celeste, Dawn or Xiaxue, I doubt you'll be as famous as them if you blog about things as mentioned in 5. I wouldn't be too doubtful if I was a number 4 type of blogger though.
But then again, shouldn't blogs be famous or nanged for the interesting content and not for these stupid stuff?

even if you're desperate to be famous, why blog-hop and ask people to link you? You might as well place your URL on a billboard or host it in the newspapers. Then when 'cheeko-peks' link you and start "violating'' your privacy or even begin to stalk you, you start blaming Singapore's corrupted minds.

But wasn't fame what you wanted?

2. People who type all over their blogs posting about suicide or slitting of wrists. This is in spot number 2 because I personally find it stupid for these type of people to post about suicidal. I mean if you really want to die, go ahead lah. Why do you have to post about "how sad you are because your girlfriend/boyfriend left you, family doesn't love you, school sucks, exam sucks, life sucks, everything sucks".

My suggestion, my friend, is to call the suicidal hot-line in the New papers. There really is one, trust me. Then, there's bigger action, the whole of Singapore might even recognize you. (For the kid who wants to die but is afraid of dying). Or you could simply jump down your flat and die.

I don't see why is there a need to post about dying when you yourself am procrastinating about suicide. And trust me, the people who tag are people who are either waiting for you to die, or are acting concerned, but mocking at you behind your back.

Die like a true hero if you really must. Don't pretend to be suicidal just because of small "hoo-has" in your life. and drawing thick, black eye-liner around your eyes won't make you emo enough, neither does slitting your wrists.

You know what's so stupid about slitting wrists? Wrists are "soft spots" where the main veins are. If you slit it AT your wrists, you would die, bleed to death. But somehow these emo freaks aren't dead. Why? Because they aren't even slitting their wrists!

If you're too stupid to know where they are, it's the areas where it's directly below your palm, yes, the areas where you can see the bluish green veins. And not these areas!

my arms...

In case you can't tell the difference, these are the ARMS.

And the MOST retarded way to grab attention goes to.......

1. People who go around other people's blog tagging or rather 'spamming' them with thousands of tag which say"Click Here
. She's a BITCH,WHORE, PROSTITUTE. SHE ASKS FOR FREE SEX. SHE SHOULD DIE. FUCKING BITCH!!".

Well, if you did click on the link above, surprise, it refers back to my blog. Yes, that's how retarded people can be. I mean if I were to tag, shouldn't it be something to praise the other person, or if I have to, myself?
And even if I had to tag on that person's blog, why down-grade yourself to some ungodly terms? To gain Pity? Sympathy?

Desperation my friends, make these people shoot up to fame. It's sounds immature to the sane mind but to these people, they are willing to do anything to be famous.

Stupid right?

These are actually true stories, no joke.

Everyday-ness

Reading through my previous posts never fail to crack me up and make me notice how horrible my life is. Or at least how I feel it is.

And if you didn't notice, I'm blogging for the second time today. Sheer boredom has made me stared at the computer all day and it has never let me down ever since. Internet acts as a whole new life to me. I get engaged in stupid online games or I would just load movies from online sites and watch them. But fear the power of the Internet because behind it, holds doors to the pervert entrances such as rape games and pornography. And there's also the influence of imbeciles who think they're so Funny, and hang around on Friendster all day. Low life.

Well, that is how I spend my time on the Web. I discriminate low life idiots, not forgetting to play online games and load movies to watch.

But other than that, I chill at home, or I could make a mess at home.

I guess my parents are so open-minded or rather, gave up hope on me because of their zero-tolerance on misbehavior. Neither do they like seeing laziness. But one I allow my Dad to watch his cultural shows, or FBI shows, he won't bother about me at all. And to handle my mum, all I got to do is to give her a bunch of thread and let her knit away! Or I could load some puzzle games and she'll be thrilled.

My home's pretty much chaotic. That's why I don't have a boring life at all. Well, Volleyball training is starting tomorrow and I guess all the volleyballers' blogs would be filled with the events and incidents or how much they enjoyed volleyball training. I, however, won't update about volleyball because I can't recall what happened once I step into home. Amusing.

I'm thinking of closing this blog down pretty soon, because I feel that it's actually no use to constantly update your blog and tell people about your life. The people reading your blog are a bunch of KPOs( I admit, i am one too) and you, updating about love, school, life, friends is plainly boring. Unless you have an exciting life like Xiaxue, what's the point of expressing feelings her where the only people reading your blog is KPOs and yourself? Hahaha, random thought though.

Anyway, I just had another conversation with my mum and I think she suffers from some disease which disbales her to complete her sentences.

MUM: Kethlyn, get me that thing.
ME: What "thing"?
MUM Aiyah, that one lah. The thing. Erh, what is it called..
ME: Comb? Fish? Controller? Newspaper? Dog? Food? Clothes? Toys?
Mum: Ah.. the newspaper.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MUM: Did you watch the news yesterday?
ME: No, why?
MUM: News said that the drainage system in Singapore all leads to the reservoir.
Me: Then?
MUM: Then, if they see the news, they sure come bomb singapore and the drainage
system lah.
ME: They? Who are the they?
MUM: The people whom come attack Singapore one lah. What are they called?
ME: Terrorists?
MUM: Yah, yah. Terrorists..

See, what I mean? hahah.. I think I am getting influenced too. Bother.
