You know, I have this issue with people who go on and on about freedom of speech in their blogs.
Something like "Being in Singapore, everyone is entitled to have their own rights, and freedom of speech. So you if hate what I say, just click the small red X on top or simply press Alt F4".
Honey, you got this all wrong. If one has freedom of speech, one wouldn't be asked to close their blogs by school teachers. One wouldn't be bombarded with comments or hate tags because of something sensitive you wrote in your post.
If you still think that there's freedom of speech, then you should be the one to buzz off worzxzx.
There have been way too many issues going on that all points in agreement to the fact that there isn't freedom of speech. Just ask the teacher who revealed that he was gay.
Yes, we do have a little freedom of speech, that is why we have debates, forums and we need not sign terms and conditions just to post in our blogs.
And true enough, everyone needs a "freedom of speech" moment for themselves just so that they can unleash some deep dark secret that they've wanted to share. But I, for one, am glad that there isn't really much freedom of speech around. Because, if we did, people would go haywire and start bombarding people even if there wasn't a need to.
And if you think that freedom of speech still rules, then just you wait for the teachers or whoever you insulted, to spot you. Go ask them to press Alt F4 then.
