Ghost Festival

At the stroke of Midnight, everything will be different.

Everyone would be seen rushing home before night comes knocking on their doors.

The night sky seems darker as the only thing that lights up your pathway would be the glowing flame of the lighted candles that accompany the offerings.

Every corner you turn, you'll face bins that roar and cackle as people throw the "paper dolls, shirts and money" into the rising flame.

You see tents in the middle of the field, you squint to have a better view of what it is all about. It's a Chinese opera performance for the "visitors".

You try to erase the scary faces of the opera singers, but before you know it, two ghoulish eyes stare at you, ready to eat you alive.

You try to run, but tripped. A nightmarish laughter haunts you as you try to erase the eerie glare that you got earlier.

You try to avoid the ashes on the drains that are enveloped by a white circle, but as hard as you try, the mistral gently blows the ashes forming a tornado, after you.

You quicken your pace, but soon hears a familiar voice calling your name.

Should you turn around to see who it is?

Millions of thoughts races through your head as you mentally weigh between turning to look or not.

It's 1am, and you turned. And you saw...

True enough, midnight would mark the start of the Hungry Ghost festival. If you have no idea what that is, fear not, I've check wikipedia.org!

The Ghost Festival (simplified Chinese: 中元节; traditional Chinese: 中元節; pinyin: zhōngyuánjié) is a traditional Chinese festival and holiday, which is celebrated by Chinese in many countries. In the Chinese calendar (a lunisolar calendar), the Ghost Festival is on the 15th night of the seventh lunar month.

In Chinese tradition, the thirteenth day of the seventh month in the lunar calendar is called Ghost Day and the seventh month in general is regarded as the Ghost Month (鬼月), in which ghosts and spirits, including those of the deceased ancestors, come out from the lower realm. During the Qingming Festival the living descendants pay homage to their ancestors and on Ghost Day, the deceased visit the living.

On the thirteenth day the three realms of Heaven, Hell and the realm of the living are open and both Taoists and Buddhists would perform rituals to transmute and absolve the sufferings of the deceased. Intrinsic to the Ghost Month is ancestor worship, where traditionally the filial piety of descendants extends to their ancestors even after their deaths. Activities during the month would include preparing ritualistic food offerings, burning incense, and burning joss paper, a papier-mache form of material items such as clothes, gold and other fine goods for the visiting spirits of the ancestors. Elaborate meals would be served with empty seats for each of the deceased in the family treating the deceased as if they are still living. Ancestor worship is what distinguishes Qingming Festival from Ghost Festival because the former includes paying respects to all deceased, including the same and younger generations, while the latter only includes older generations. Other festivities may include, burying and releasing miniature paper boats and lanterns on water, which signifies giving directions to the lost ghosts and spirits of the ancestors and other deities.

When I was younger, I was very afraid whenever the Hungry Ghost Festival were around. Because I always had a tendency to picture the "visitors" as scary ghosts who looked something like this:

I was very naive and a coward, so I believed the folk tales of not going for a swim during the Ghost Month, not turning around when I heard someone calling my name, not stepping on any burnings, and apologize if I did, and to never stand near the offerings, or even ask/say anything about the offerings.

My mum used to tell me that kids have the ability to look at the "supernatural" and I for one, have experienced it.

I remember one time when I was really young (and stupid). I asked my mum why there were so many ravenous people fighting for the offerings. It was only a few years later, that I realized that the ravenous people were the homeless souls who depended on people's offerings to survive.

I've lost the magic touch to see the "supernatural" but I would love to go on expeditions to try to "regain" the touch back. Besides, who wouldn't love the explore more of the Lingo world?

I know exploring and entering their "territory" could be a grave danger, literally, as we may offend them without knowing it at all. But still, I would love to be part of SPI.

Any SPI people want to take me in?

Voting sessions end tomorrow!

As I went through the blogs of the 70 finalists of omy.sg, I was struck with the fact that the voting for the favourite finalists, was going to end tomorrow.

I'm sure every finalist, would have the "kan chiong" period, where they're encouraging people to vote for them.

Photobucket

It's really hilarious seeing it, and I can't deny the shame of having the "kiasu Singapore" fever, as I am also one of them, seeking for voters. hahah. But no one can blame us right?

I'm not in the TOP 3 most voted title, and so I can say goodbye to the LG phones. But it's okay(throws knives and glares at winners, haha), because afterall, I believe that all the finalists are here to befriend one another, and to be exposed to more unique styles of blogging.

I for one, have seen many interesting sites, and have actually bookmarked some of them, to keep as personal favourites.

Speaking of votes, I read here...

That a Youth finalist, approached his teacher, seeking her help to ask the school to vote, hoping that the school would support him and another finalist. However, what came back was a shock, because instead of appreciating the efforts of the finalists in aiding in making the school more popular, the finalist's request was turned down.

I guess it's disheartening to know that despite your efforts to make a school a better place, the school in return, "repays" the kindness by ever so gratefully rejecting it.

Unfortunately, my school happens to fall in somewhat the same category, where teachers discourage the students to own a blog. They even brought up the ongoing issue "Dawn Yang Vs. XiaXue", saying that it poses a so-called threat to those irresponsible bloggers, who are waiting for trouble to come knocking on their door. A friend of mine was even asked to delete her blog, because it contained unsightly or I feel, THE TRUTH about the school.

I know that there are some teachers who read our blogs, and I personally feel happy that teachers are making an effort to get to know their students better by being a step ahead of others, and connecting to us through the net.

But I'm glad that I did not approach my school to help me in the votings because I'll definitely have my parents being called up, and at the same time, have to face the teachers and highest in hierachy, to lecture me about the importance of studies, being that it's the O' level year.

But even so, I would like to thank all those who helped vote for me, from friends, to classmates, to schoolmates, to strangers who visit my blog. I do hope that after this voting session is done, there would still be visitors to my blog, not to vote but to continue supporting me in my passion for blogging.

Here's Rihanna's latest MV, Disturbia. The MV is kinda' freaky, it reminds me of "Thir13en Ghosts".

But I think the beats of th song, is nice.

ENJOY!

Money No Enough 2 Review

In my previous post, I mentioned that I was all beefed up for the Premier of "Money No Enough 2".

Photobucket

If you have not caught it, I recommend you take a day off, and bring your mom with you, to the movies!

I did not catch "Money No Enough", the first movie, but like they said, whether we missed out or not, the second movie will definitely not be a let down. And it indeed was not a let down!

Here's the synopsis:

Taken from "http://sg.movies.yahoo.com/Money+No+Enough+2/movie/14707/"

Following the success of "Money No Enough" (1998) ten years ago, which is undoubtedly Singapore's biggest box-office hit with an unsurpassed S$5.8 million, Jack Neo along with co-stars Mark Lee and Henry Thia are back in "Money No Enough 2".

I have always been a great fan of Jack Neo's movie because I feel that he represents the entire Singapore as ONE VOICE.

There are many Singaporeans out there who want to stand up for their own rights, "rebelling" against the policies made by the government. Shunning the "efforts" of the PAP to make Singapore a better place. Many fear the Government, thus supporting the PAP. But how many are truly satisfied with the efforts? Like mentioned in the movie, Singaporeans complain, complain, complain. Then when it becomes an issue, they avoid it, because it isn't their problem. And soon enough, when the issue settles down, everyone has to adapt to the changes.

True, Singapore is an independent country, and the people are great. But with the rapid change in the modernized world, Singapore is becoming more Money-minded, and fear for their face and money, than to literally aid in improving Singapore.

This movie speaks of the "silent" Singapore voices that were unable to make a change. It embarrasses us Singaporeans to sit and watch this movie in awe, feeling "why have I not done that?".

It also shows how we, the future generation, be it a working adult, or a youth, tend to neglect our parents. Although our parents tend to give that "don't worry about me, I'm fine. Anything lah.", we should never take it for granted that they are happy where they are. In this movie, apart from the ERP, PAP, it also shows how an elderly mom who suffers from Dementia, who took care of her children, gave up her Life, just because she witness how umwilling her children were in taking care of her, and splitting the money to pay her medical bills.

It's sad to see this happening in our country, one where we thought was safe and clean. But it's mainly because we're ignorant to what's going on INSIDE. I'm glad Jack Neo made the movies that he did.

I would give a standing ovation, if I could.

Jack Neo is like Singapore's very own Micheal Moore.

Not sure who he is?

Click

He's the one man that America's after. The man, who slammed George W. Bush through his documentaries that actually revealed the truth behind September 11th and other shows. I got a glimpse of one of his movie "Sicko" and I am impressed.

Yeah, Jack Neo reminds me of him, Singapore Style. I just hope Singapore government does not ban his movies, because afterall, it's the TRUTH.

Anyway, enough words. I'll the let the pictures do the talking.

We were given money after the movie, thanking us for taking time off on a Monday to watch a late movie, that ended at 11.30pm.

No, I lied. They were vouchers.

It was the premier, and so the casts, directors, hosts and lot's more famous people came. I only got a few shots of the actors like Jack Neo and Mark Lee (those who came into the movie screening hall). But actresses like Felicia Chin and the cute LaoZhaBor came! No pictures of them though.

That's all that I have from the Movie! However, there's more photos that I took at Vivocity!

I brought my mum to the Top most floor, where I showed her the pool, and the lovely scenery leading to Sentosa.

While waiting for the movie to start, I managed to snap some photos which intrigued me.

This is a structure on the Top Floor. I like the intercepting image it sets. And I think the Beijing Olympics got their stadium idea from this? I don't know, you decide.

Friendship

This week made me lose a lot of sleep. Not because of the upcoming exams, or school work, but because I lay in bed drifting in and out of sleep, as I ponder on the importance of Friendship.

For secondary school kids, nothing matters more to them, than their love life, friends, studies and family. This is the age where adolescence often commit suicide because ' they can't live without their other half' and stupid stuff like that.

Life was never meant to be complicated, but it's humans, us, who make a whole complication out of everything. Everyone wished that they could return to the past, when they were kids. Making friends with everyone, be it the Popiah seller, or the Karang Guni (rag and bones) man. As kids, we accepted others for who they are, and faced the world with s big wide smile, living life with purity and simplicity, and no fear at all. The only fear was the boogey-man under my bed.

I've always treasured my friends and used to be in denial that friendships do had to end. Because believe it or not, friends are the ones who shape us into special individuals. It's the experiences we shared, be it a lot or little, and with a pinch of our own personality, that makes us who we are. And the funny thing is that we never realized it.

I never believed in Friends falling apart, only in drifting apart. But time proved me wrong.

Time meant that I grew older, and so many things changed. My face changed, my body changed, and the people around me changed, my Friends changed too.

My primary school friends were inseparable. We were by each other whenever any of us were down. We shared secrets and swore to stay in contact after the PSLE. But now we are separated, drifting further apart. I've lost contact with many of them, and though some are still contactable, we are not as close as last time.

Secondary school friends are treasured. I gained so many friends, but learning from past experiences, I swore never to be too close to anyone, for the separation made me ache more.
And I've been trying to keep my head cool about a lot of things, choosing not to fuss about them. But this week changed everything, I was made to look at friendship from a whole new perspective.

I never thought of myself as one of them to end a friendship. But this week made me feel the moment where I wasn't as eager than usual, to see my friend. Instead I grew more and more upset about the things my friend did. I saw through her motives, and slowly grew uncomfortable around her.

People around me tell me that it's an indication that the friendship is about to end. But I'm holding on. Because as badly as I want to end it, I want to save it. It's an in between feeling.

But will friends stay friends forever?

I've seen people make friends through blogging, and even lose great friends by the same method.

And at every corner that I turn to, I see strangers being friends, friends to lovers, and lovers back to friends and in the end, friends to strangers. It's a strange world.

Let's leave it at that.

But all I can say for now is, love those who love you, and love those you've never loved before. Help make other live life meaningfully, and understand each character before you judge. Let the people around you feel joy, love and be touched by you. For every Life you touch, makes you a better person. Who knows, you might even unravel the mysteries in Life.

And to my friend, I hope things can be better.

Dedicated to Everyone out there.

Love all.

Good day gone bad

It's only 7.45pm but the sky is as dark as how it was during a storm. The Minister Of Education (Dr. Ng Eng Hen) came to my school today. He did a few round about in school, and paid a little visit to my class.

My class, Achievers, were really nervous. Especially our teachers, because we thought that he was going to "tour" our class, and ask us questions about our "home". But he did not, he received our greetings and before we knew it, he was out of the class, moving on with his tour in school.

We were a tad bit disappointed because we were prepared to "wow" him with our speeches of our efforts in making our class, a conducive and fun home. But oh well.

After school, Alex and I headed to the canteen. We sat with Shera and started on some class work. Then things went wrong.

Apparently a parked van with a sleeping driver inside, started moving, and "barged" into the canteen, colliding with tables, toppling the benches over. Fortunately, Shera screamed and the boys who were a breath away from the moving van, managed to get away with minor bruises. The driver got stuck in the van and only managed to leap out of it, with the help of his two friends. I think he injured his leg or something, I'm not sure.

But thankfully, no one got seriously injured, especially Jie Choong, Norman, Yao Quan and that sec 3 guy.

While writing the statement in the General Office, many teachers came forward with concern, but after being assured that Alex and I were fine, many cracked the same joke, that we now have a first hand experience and would benefit for both Oral and Compo.

The police came, and the incident is still under investigation.

Despite the trauma, Syafiq and I even crapped with the Police, asking if CSI and CRIMEWATCH was going to come to our school to carry out the cool investigations. hahha.

But at the end of the day, Shera's scream saved the day.

Sounds like some PowerPuff series!

On a serious note, this incident actually taught us a valuable lesson, which is, that no one can predict the future. It can be the next day, minute or even second, that you may lose a close one, or even your life. So thank the people around you, and God (if you're not an Atheist) for letting you live Life another day.

Which in fact boils down to the phrase in my profile "have you found joy in your Life? And has you Life brought joy to others?"

Cherish every single day, and thank your parents especially for letting you experience the joy of this world.

I hope everyone's fine, especially Shera and Nat. Do take care okay!

Love all.

World's Oldest Blogger

If you have read the newspapers a few days back, you'd notice of a topic that was covered, "World's Oldest Blogger".

Yes, my post today will be about the late "World's Oldest Blogger".

She's none other than OLIVE RILEY.

Photobucket

Taken from Wikipedia.org:

Olive Riley (October 20, 1899 – July 12, 2008) was an Australian woman, believed to have been the world's oldest blogger.

She began her blog The Life of Riley in February 2007 at the age of 107 and made her final post on June 26, 2008 from a nursing home in Woy Woy, New South Wales, complaining of a cough about two weeks before she died at the age of 108. She had posted over 70 entries, as well as several video posts on YouTube.

A video of her singing :

Her actual blog is here. Click

A temporary blog of hers, that is edited by her friends. Click

I think Olive Riley is an inspiration, not to the older generation, but to the future generations as well. Olive showed that she was capable of making herself useful, and being "updated" in the present generation by blogging.

She should be a role model to fellow elderly who think that they are useless, and a burden to their families. Olive proved that she is still young at heart, and capable of doing many things, such as blogging, that people would not expect elderly to do.

To all those who are seeking for sympathy, take a look at how this 108 year old lady was capable of touching many other lives. She showed that she was not going to be someone who would wait for death to come knocking on her door, but rather keep active, so that her mind and body are fit to delay death.

People always say that life's too short, but I think that Life is the longest thing you can ever have. So don't waste it, but make it useful, make yourself useful, and live a Life like how Olive did.

She brought joy to her life, and brought joy to others in her Life.

By the way, I'm rooting for LAO ZHA BOR at "http://laozhabor.blogspot.com/" to be the next oldest blogger!

Blogger who rose to fame by blogging about her sex life

Everyone points a finger at others whenever the topic of being "attention seeking" is brought up. i was one of them back then, but I got to admit, that I realized that being a blogger, somehow means that you attention, bad.

Bloggers are attention seekers, no? Because we often "brag" about things, from cool stuff we did,

Photobucket

to awards we are running for.

Photobucket

And yet feel so natural about it.

But different bloggers use different techniques or rather topics to talk about, in order to get the limelight. And today's post will be about bloggers who use sex to gain fame.

Yes, SEX

I know I'm underage to talk about it, but it's not as if I'm showing porn or anything, I'm just discussing this issue.

Anyway, I got rather interested in a blogger, who gained fame by blogging about her sex life. But she claims that she does not use sex, but rather her personality, to get her readers attention.

If you're wondering, she's other than China's famous blogger, li li who's famously known as Muzi Mei.

Taken from wikipedia.org
:

Muzi Mei (木子美 Mùzǐ Měi) or Mu Zimei or Mu Zi Mei or Muzimei (born 1978) is the alias (nom de plume) of a young female journalist and blogger from Guangzhou in the People's Republic of China, who became a notorious household name in China in late 2003. Her real name is Li Li (李丽 Lǐ Lì) -- note that "Muzi" (木子) becomes "Li" () when the characters are stacked vertically, and "Mei" () and "Li" () are synonyms (both mean "beautiful"). Her blog contained frank descriptions of her sexual encounters with various men, which was a first for China.

More information of her can be taken from here

Anyway, here's a video of her being interviewed.

I don't want to comment much, but I think she's one of a kind, for being brave enough to stand out from the rest, believing in what she does, without fearing what others think of her.

I'm okay with people showcasing a different opinion on how we view things, but I feel a slight discomfort at the next blogger.

This blogger,

SELLS USED UNDERGARMENTS.

Maybe like Muzi Mei, she has a different view of how to quick start a business online?
Maybe it's a new trend to start selling used garments now? I don't know, but I'm sure not a fan of it.

I'm a 16 year old blogger

Many have told me that I don't blog like my age. I don't know of it's a compliment or criticism.
But what puzzles me the most is that, how do people my age blog?

Do they rant all day about cartoons; like what do Pokemon evolve into?

Pokemon will never die!!

or much more mature cartoons; like how wolverine should be the leader of X-men revolution, and not Storm?

x men evolucion

Do they even talk about cartoons? Youths my age, laugh at people who watch cartoons, because it's "not cool". But I love watching cartoons.

Some Youths tend to blog about fashion, popular places they go to and all the latest trend. Labeling themselves as POPULAR, looking down on "people who don't wear classy clothes", who remind them of historical man apes.

:)

My school mates call them Bimbos and Himbos. But are all youths becoming like that?

Do young bloggers blog by bragging about their traffic flow all day? Or do they stalk famous bloggers online, and "copy and paste" everything?

So how do bloggers my age blog? I have ran out of ideas, and if you have any idea, voice it out.

But i still think Being a Young blogger does have a disadvantage though. As explained here: Click

No?

Post deleted.

Well, the blogger was kind enough to clarify with me about her post. And so, I've respected her decision, as to remove anything related to her.

Saddam Hussein's Execution, and more!

NOT FOR THE WEAK HEARTED

Saddam Hussein

Everyone knows the "Almighty" Saddam Hussein was executed on 30th December 2006. But how many of you actually got to witness the whole execution? Well, now you can, right here, right now!

A little background information about Saddam Hussein. (Taken from Wikipedia.org)

Saddam Hussein Abd al-Majid al-Tikriti (Arabic: صدام حسين عبد المجيد التكريتي Ṣaddām Ḥusayn ʿAbd al-Majīd al-Tikrītī[1]; April 28, 1937[2] – December 30, 2006)[3] was the President of Iraq from July 16, 1979 until April 9, 2003.[4][5]

A leading member of the revolutionary Ba'ath Party, which espoused secular pan-Arabism, economic modernization, and Arab socialism, Saddam played a key role in the 1968 coup that brought the party to long-term power. As vice president under the ailing General Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr, Saddam tightly controlled conflict between the government and the armed forces — at a time when many other groups were considered capable of overthrowing the government — by creating repressive security forces. In the early 1970s, Saddam spearheaded Iraq's nationalization of the Western-owned Iraq Petroleum Company, which had long held a monopoly on the country's oil. Through the 1970s, Saddam cemented his authority over the apparatuses of government as Iraq's economy grew at a rapid pace.[6]

As president, Saddam maintained power during the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988) and the first Persian Gulf War (1991). During these conflicts, Saddam repressed movements he considered threatening to the stability of Iraq, particularly Shi’a and Kurdish movements seeking to overthrow the government or gain independence, respectively. Whereas some Arabs looked upon him as a hero for his aggressive stance against foreign intervention and for his support for the Palestinians,[7] United States leaders continued to view Saddam with deep suspicion following the 1991 Persian Gulf War. Saddam was deposed by the U.S. and its allies during the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Captured by U.S. forces on December 13, 2003, Saddam was brought to trial under the Iraqi interim government set up by U.S.-led forces. On November 5, 2006, he was convicted of charges related to the executions of 148 Iraqi Shi'ites suspected of planning an assassination attempt against him, and was sentenced to death by hanging. Saddam was executed on December 30, 2006.[8]

Anyway, even after watching the Video, I don't believe that he is dead. I mean back in 2006, there were reports saying that he (or was it Osama?) actually hired people to go under the knife to look like him. I mean if he (or Osama?) could do it then, why not do it a couple of times, so that the Americans always get the wrong guy? Was there any proof that the person who was hung, was really Saddam Hussein?

I don't know. But you can take a look at the video. It's kind of creepy at the ending because they actually took a close up of the distorted figure of Saddam Hussein, after he was hanged.

I feel a little sadistic today, and so I googled for more videos and found one that is rather interesting.

This goes out to all the Ah-Beng wanna-bes who want to deal with drugs or whatsoever, just to be accepted. Think Twice.

The Narcotics Team had been to my school a couple of times. Whenever they showed us the pictures of the canings and stuff, we, students always had 2 reactions; one was, "EEEEE, so gross, I'm losing my appetite". And the other one would be "Eeee, but sure bluff one loh. Sure got photoshop edit one".

Well. here's a video for you to watch, to see if things are real, or not. ENJOY

Trends In School

Last Friday was spent on a rather fruitful note, where I got to spend time with three crazy yet awesome friends;Shera, Syuhada and Jeanice.

We "took turns" to laugh at the silliest things possible, from pictures of people in the Yearbook, to the evolving of Pokemon. Jeanice felt left out and even labeled us as being scary people because we could remember names of Pokemon and their evolved names and attacks. Shera even sang the Team Rocket Song. Hahaha.

Speaking of School, I can't help but notice a different trend in school, every year.

Back when my eldest brother was in secondary school (about 12 years ago) , everyone wanted Bell-bottoms or straight cut.

and now... the bell bottoms

funny chuck norris

Hahah.

This was also the year, where the guys would buy the biggest pants as possible to wear it low. They would then drag their pants, so that it would look torn and tattered at the bottom. That was "cool" for them back then.

Then 4 to 5 years later, when it was my 2nd brother's turn, things were different. Everyone said 'bye-bye' to baggy pants, and 'hello' to tapered!

Black basic cottonish with side zipper tapered pants

Lol.

My brother's pants were so skinny that it totally resembled drain pipes.

drain pipes on west side lecture hall

Now it's my turn, in the secondary school life, and I must say, things are different. Girls have been the same, coming up with various ways to shorten their skirt, either by folding it, or tailoring it. But guys though, have compiled both of the two years(above), either by having baggy pants either tight or lose, or have tapered pants, wearing it near their butt crack.

Johnny's butt crack

But they don't call it tapered anymore. With the growing rate of modernization, people have called it "skinnies". And "trend" has made it so popular that when you walk down Orchard Road, you don't see people in denim skinnies, but in various colours, ranging from white, to luminous green, to hot pink, blinding you in every way possible.

Photobucket

Secondary school was supposed to be a place where both teachers and students exchange knowledge on order to overcome the National Examinations. However, things have changed. And now, school seems like how the olden days used to be "with kids playing Hopscotch, five stones and colour-catching". But now, it's modified.

Students now, term themselves as "matured" and instead if playing the games mentioned above, they turn to "water babies", "Rubix Cube" and a dance called "Shuffle".

You must be wondering, water babies how to play?

Well, it's not this water babies,

babies in water

But this one!

Photobucket

I have friends who not only take care of these water babies, but treat them as pets as well!

Classmates have been addicted to Rubix Cude as well, hiding it under the table, twisting and turning it, as though to unrevel some "Da Vinci Code" secret.

cube

Don't get me wrong, I think people who can do the Rubix cube, are intelligent people, but this as a trend in school?

The last one, is actually the latest trend,Shuffle. It's actually a dance. I don't know much about, so I'll leave it to the video.

I love how they do it, although it looks like some paranoid kid stomping his feet, if there weren't any music.

But I wonder what's next? Will it be back to the "hopscotch, fivestones" thing, or will technology bring forth a new trend?

How can Omy.sg do this to me?

I feel really depressed. If you read my previous day's entry, you would have realized that two kind souls actually stayed up till 12am to help me out with my pictures for om.sg (promoting of voting phase for top 10 finalists).

Photobucket

In fact, Shera was still up at 3am to send me the finalized piece. I'm really touched and I am going to get something for both Khairul and Shera to thank them, of course.

Anyway, I woke up this morning and eagerly switched on my computer to send the 2 pictures to Omy.sg. In case you're wondering what's with the taking of pictures, it's actually a "project" to aid omy.sg in publicizing the voting phase, and thus we have to take 2 pictures of our hands, doing something that symbolizes blogging.

I came up with two ideas and snapped some pictures of my hand, keyboard and newspaper articles, before sending it to Shera and Khiarul. They noted every single detail that I wanted and this is what the 2 finalized piece looks like.

Photobucket

The first picture actually consists of my hand, a keyboard and a newspaper article on famous blogger, mr Brown. The hand on keyboard is actually acting as a surfer, who surfs (the net) for news on latest blog posts and famous bloggers.

The second picture consist of my hand, on a keyboard, with the words only as B L O G. this shows that bloggers definitely need their hands on the keyboard 24/7 as they're addicted to blogging.

I sent my pictures to marketing@omy.sg and happily switched off my computer before heading to school.

I got home later at 7pm and was devastated when I checked my email.

Hi, attached are my 2 pictures to aid in the publicizing of the voting phase. The first picture is of my hand, on a keyboard, gliding on a news paper article about bloggers. I feel the hand on keyboard represents the whole "surfing the net" and the newspaper artcle represents bloggers, as well as news for fellow bloggers to blog about. The second picture, is of my hand, on a keyboard which only reads the letters B L O G. I think that this really shows that bloggers are addicted to blogging. I hope like the pictures! Thanks, Kethlyn"

Apparently omy.sg's email is full and I cannot send in my pictures!!! Furthermore, it's already 8pm and the dateline was at 6pm! How can!!!

I'm really disappointed. There goes Shera and Khairul's effort in helping me, and there goes mine, in wishing to aid in the publicizing.

I'm really sad now, I hope Omy.sg comes up with some solution quick.

OMY, I'm doomed

Just when I thought no one was going to help me with the "2 pictures to submit in ad" for Omy.sg, two good friends came to my rescue!

They're none other than Khairul and Shera!

Thank you so much for the help, because I feel that I would be doom for failure, if you guys did not save me!

It's coming to 12am right now and both of them are actually still helping me with the Pictures. Good right?!!

I definitely owe you both, a huge favour!

Anyway, speaking of Omy.sg, I was blog-hopping lately, and being curious to find out how my fellow competitors are, I went to check out their blogs. Till now, I am still half-hearted about the whole competition. Because all of them are so much better than me!

I found out from YongWei(also one of the top 10) that he gets about 700 uniques per week while Samantha, (another top 10) gets 2000 uniques per week!
And to think that I have a chance, when I get less than 300 per week!

So hoe can I win? I'm starting to doubt things. Maybe the staffs from Omy.sg picked me to humiliate me eh? hahah.

But I have to say, being in the Top 10 has definitely increased my traffic flow!

Sidetrack a little, I won $30 worth of Vivocity vouchers from Nets! How? Well, I participated in the Lucky 2D Huat ah! Contest at "http://www.laughoutloud.com.sg/" and have been selected as one of the lucky 20 winners of Week 3! Yay!

Random post, but I still LIKE it. hahha

Sleep people, and wake up tomorrow with a smile because the weekends are just a day away!

XiaXue made it hot, So now it's your turn?

I've been checking out Nuffnang's innit posts and I don't really get the big hoo-haa over alot of things, especially with fellow bloggers now "identifying" disgusting bloggers and thus ranking them based on how disgusting they are.

XiaXue made the topic hot back in 2007, ranking bloggers like Steven Lim, Ice angel, Maia Lee and even Lao Zha Bor. Her post is here

That did create an uproar and many weren't pleased with her post. However, the fuss soon died down and may didn't bring it up. Until recently...

It seems as though almost every blogger is trying to "gain attention/fame" by posting lists of disgusting bloggers so that people would read, and thus increase their traffic flow to their blog.

I'm not bothered about the traffic flow at all. What I'm bothered about, is the fact that everyone is coying each other, by listing bloggers as disgusting!

how would you feel if you were one of the those who is listed as disgusting? You may be thick skinned and shrug it off as the most hilarious thing you've ever heard. But not everyone is like that isn't it?

Besides, blogging sites like Nuffnang has aims and that is to bring fellow bloggers together, Not destroy everyone by having them blog about each other.

I don't really know, but I think the blogosphere is lacking originality and everyone is copying each other lately. Where have all the wondrous posts full of originality and creativity gone? Is this what is becoming of fellow bloggers?

XiaXue made it hot, but that doesn't mean you MUST copy her. Get your own Hot topic.

I LOVE MY APPLE!!

This post is specially for the blogging competition that is being hosted by Nuffnang. In case you have no idea what it is, you can click here

Anyway, this competition is actually about one's love for Apple products. No, not literally a real apple.

apple

But, It's this one!

apple:)

Anyway, if you still have no idea what are the differences between the two pictures above, you can actually head to Apple's website(online store) here

Now, I love Apple products, because they're not only trim and sleek(everyone wants something that looks nice, and slim right?), but have functions that are the eighth wonder of the world, so much that heads will turn when they see you carry an Apple product that never fails to make anyone, look like a prodigy. I'm not kidding, it's not some copy and paste thing.

I for one, have always been envious of whoever who owns an Apple product. The products are simply irresistible, that I feel like snatching from those who own them.

Anyway, enough talk about the products as a whole. I need to touch on the point of the post, and that is, my favourite Apple product.

Apple products range from a large variety from a large range of MacBooks(Air, Pro, Mini),

macbook

to Imac,

iMac

And lastly, to Ipods!

ipod

Apple iPod

Among all those stunning products, I have to vote for the 'Ipod Touch' as my favourite Apple product!

(Taken from wikipedia.org)

The iPod touch has the iPhone's multi-touch interface, with a physical home button off the touch screen. The home screen has a list of buttons for the available applications. All iPod touch models have included the applications Music, Videos, and Photos (collectively duplicating the standard functions of the iPod classic), iTunes (providing access to the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store), Safari, YouTube, Calendar, Contacts, Clock, Calculator, and Settings. Later models added Mail (accessing POP/IMAP/SMTP e-mail), Maps, Stocks, Notes, and Weather, which could also be added to the earlier models with the purchase of a software upgrade. Direct links to web sites can be added to the home screen by the user.

The iPod touch is equipped with Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, and, like the iPhone, includes the Safari browser and a viewing client for YouTube. The device's Wi-Fi capabilities can also be used to buy music from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store. Also like the iPhone, the iPod touch currently does not support the 802.1X authentication method, making connectivity to certain private networks impossible, even when authorized. The iPod touch 2.0 Software Update will support WPA2 Enterprise with 802.1X authentication.

Though this heavenly product seems flawless, it is apparently not so true.

It lacks some of the iPhone's features: access to any phone network, an internal speaker, a microphone, a camera, physical buttons for volume control, and Bluetooth capability. The iPod touch uses software-based volume controls which require users to double-tap the home button, bringing up an on-screen slider.

But, who can resist the temptation of owning such a magnificent product? It's slim and definitely lighter than the Iphone. So if I don't love it, who will?
