Implement these rules!

Had a rather sleepless night the day before because my fan wasn't working and my air conditioner was blasting the sixteen degrees it used to. My family thinks I'm crazy to sleep with both a fan and an air conditioner blasting that low temperature, that they think that they should ship me off to Antarctica.

Anyway, woke up and out I went. Did some things, and caught up with Cheryl and YiLing at causeway point. In fact, I was the earliest! We settled for late Lunch followed by catching the movie: Twilight.

I wasn't really enjoying the movie because half of the screen was blocked by a guy who sat too high in his seat. And what could get better when you have that, and a group of people who keep kicking your chair from behind? And one of the guy actually stepped on my hair. Can you imagine how high his leg was? Indecent assholes who need to "air" their "treasures" so much that they need to lift like how my dog pees.

But the movie wasn't so bad. I was kind of disappointed because the movie lacked action that most Vampire movies had. And I think the lead actress, Kristen Stewart, looks alittle like Emma Watson(Hermione) from Harry Potter.

But I think the lead actress should be played by a hotter girl, maybe like Megan Fox?

And the lead actor can stay, or, he can be replaced with Channing Tatum, Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom.

Okay, maybe too much on the "trying to be Director".

Anyway, after the movie, we parted and I made my way to Shahirah's home to pass her "Christmas Gifts". Hahah, a pity there were any "Cards". (Inside Joke)

We did some catching up and shared some touchy stuff that were close to our hearts. I knew we both were aching deep inside but time did not permit for us to chat any longer, and so she left for home, while I headed to my mum's workplace to have supper with her.

And while searching high and low for places(most of them were closed!) to have supper, and my mum's late dinner, I discovered the secret to making my family's Life so short.

Well, while walking around, we were making fun and grumbling at the same time, or irritating things that obstructed our paths.

I'm not going list the whole conversation from Marsiling to Admiralty, then to my school's coffeeshop, then to Thriple Eight, then back to Drive Sixty One. No, instead, I am going to list the types of laws that should be implemented immediately. And of course, I do seek for your support!

Kethlyn's Laws. Hahah.
  1. Ensure that there is enough space for Cyclists and Pedestrians while crossing the road. What I suggest: Draw a line on the road so that cyclists are separated from Pedestrians. This makes crossing much more safer as this would reduce the risk of collision between Kan Chiong spiders, the elderly, and untamed kids.
  2. Ensure that the bells on the bicycles are used for the right reason. What I suggest: Teach people that the bells are used as a warning to say that there is a bicycle nearby, not a warning to say "Oi, Siam leh!".
  3. Ban people from cycling on Pedestrian Paths. It is really irritating as there are still many people who do not understand the proper function of the bell on their bicycle. And it is really sickening to hear the bell ringing at you non-stop for you to move it, when it is actually them who needs to move! Afterall, it is the Pedestrian Path! What I suggest: allow Pedestrians to carry sticks and trip the cyclists who are on the Pedestrian Paths by sticking the stick inbetween the wheels of the bicycle. If you can ban chewing gum, you can ban cyclists who can harm our aging population, as well as our future generation by langa-ing on them.
  4. Ban people from walking on pathways (with people coming from both directions) in twos(especially couples) or more. What I suggest: Have a traffic police to fine those who do not follow the law. This not only increases the traffic police's income, but also allows more people to get jobs (as there are alot of places to be taken note of) thus, boosting the country's economy!
  5. Ban people from bringing strollers in crowded areas like the market, MRTs and Buses (during peak hours) and definitely in Pasar Malams. What I suggest: Fine them! More job for Traffic Police!
  6. Cyclists have to get off their bicycles when passing through these areas : Pasar Malam, Bus Stops, Roads in which they want to cross and T-junctions on pathways. What I suggest: a. Fine them! More jobs for people! Or b. Allow pedestrians to carry sticks with them, so that they can trip those inconsiderate asses.
  7. Have people inform others of sudden stops. What I suggest: The person should stretch out both hands on either side, to tell the surrounding people that he/she is going to stop 5 seconds after he/she does it. This is definitely useful as it prevents people from colliding with one another, having to cause the "Domino Effect" to everyone near them.
  8. Have people informed of Sudden Turns. What I suggest: The person should stick out one hand (in which the direction he wants to turn to) 5 seconds before he turns. Causes same effect as above (7).
  9. Ban people from putting their hands on their hips. To the ladies, have you ever felt the pain when an elbow jabs you hard in the chest, just because you were trying to squeeze past that person? I sure have, and it hurts alot! What I suggest: Fine the person who does not obey this law. The person can only put his/her hands on his/her hips only when there is no one within a radius of 5m.
  10. Ban people from standing in the middle of pathways. What I suggest: Allow people to push them away only if they are teenagers. For the toddlers or elderly, we guide them to one side of the path. And to the adults, we fine them for setting such a bad example!

That's all that my mum and I had talked about.

I do seek for your support!

I never felt like this before.

The Graduation that I attended on Wednesday was Magnificent. It was held at the Convention Centre and we were seated in Ballroom 1.

The whole ceremony was very much like a Harry Potter scenario, where the Deans of each faculty marched in with the lecturers. The music and the march very much resembled the scene from Harry Potter and The Goblet OF Fire, where students from the 3 different schools march into Hogwarts with their own style.

Like this:

Not to forget, each lecturer and dean wore cloaks and hats in colours, according to their faculty. It was mystical.

I don't have the photos yet, but I'll try to upload some soon, as soon as I get it from my brother.

Sidetrack : Speaking of Harryp Potter, did you know this?

Daniel Radcliffe has revealed he wants to play a drag queen in his next movie so he can wear 'loads of eye make-up'.

Daniel Radcliffe wants to play a drag queen in his next movie.

The 'Harry Potter' star confessed he would love to land the unusual role because it would allow him to dress as a woman and wear make-up.
He said: 'I think part of me would love to play a drag queen, just because it would be an excuse to wear loads of eye make-up.'
Daniel admits taking on such a part would be one of the most rebellious things he has ever done.

He revealed: 'I don't pretend to do anything particularly wild. People talk about rebellion and they say, 'Where is the teenage angst?' But I say I try to do it simply by the choices I make in the work I do. I just like wrong-footing people. I write poetry and I love it. I like being different from most other people in my generation.'

Daniel, who is currently single, also revealed he has no interest in finding a girlfriend because he is too busy.
He added to Details magazine: 'Most of my friends have been girls, and I see how they are with their boyfriends and I think, I couldn't do that. I just don't have the time.

Interesting isn't it?

Moving to the Movie screening. What was disappointing was that I did not make in time for the movie screening, and so, I did not manage to catch the movie, The Days.

But I'm still going to blog about.

You can read the synopsis, view the trailer and even download wallpapers
Here

At first when I saw the introduction, I thought that it was going to be a movie about 'Tok-kong gangsters in Singapore who used parangs to fight because they had no idea what one another were talking in their "Broken English". But after I saw the trailer and read the synopsis, I figured that it would not be as bad as I thought. I also realised that this story had a deeper meaning behind, rather than the heavy parang slashings going on. This story was brotherhood, how one man tried to teach his younger brother Independence.

This movie actually reminded me of a "gangster" movie I once saw. It's none other than '15: The Movie' by Royston Tan.

Synopsis (Taken from Zhaowei.com/) :

The adventure of five fifteen year old boys in Singapore: estranged to every social reference, except for that of appearance and close friendships, they live their lives distant from their families and school, passing their days in a complete state of indolence in the search of experiences, at times even physically painful (tattoos, piercing, wounds). Their imaginary is completely colonized by MTV, cartoons, electronic jingles, publicity and comics.

Interpreted by street-kids that belong to the group they represent, this audacious and disturbing first work by the twenty-six year old Royston Tan explores an adolescent world, dramatically marked by the conflictual under-culture and complete addiction to video clip and videogame aesthetics. The existential suburban hardship, compared to the bright "western" and "English speaking" metropolis, is consumed through moving and desperate dialogues inscribed in a progression of disturbing sequences, similar to short sketches that slowly reconstruct the relational, psychological and family dynamics of the five boys. A sincere and lyrical film but at the same time irreverent, scandalous and extreme, an expression of Singapore cinema, unknown and emerging.

Just so you know:

Censorship
While 15: The Movie was initially banned in Singapore, the
Singapore Board of Film Censors (BFC) later ruled that the film should be rated R(A). Under pressure from the BFC, Royston Tan ended up making 27 cuts to the film Opposition was also raised against the heavy use of the Hokkien language in the film,[citation needed] which is discouraged by the Singapore government in favour of Mandarin and English. These restrictions infuriated Tan, and would later lead him to create his satirical short film Cut.

Critical reception
The film received mixed reviews from film critics. In
Rotten Tomatoes, it earned ratings of 50% based on 10 reviews and 20% based on 5 top critics. In Metacritic, the film earned a metascore of 47% based on 6 reviews

Awards
FIPRESCI/NETPAC Award,
Singapore International Film Festival (2003)

Best Fiction, Tampere International Short Film Festival (2003)

Prize of the Youth Film Competition (Special Mention), Oberhausen International Short Film Festival (2003)

Grand Prix Asturias (nominated), Gijón International Film Festival (2003)

Trivia
15: The Movie has been advertised outside of Singapore in
gay publications, due to the heavy homoerotic tension between the characters. However, in an interview segment of the DVD Royston's Shorts, a collection of Tan's short films, Tan affirms that the boys whose lives he portrayed do not identify as gay.

Money No Enough 2 Review

In my previous post, I mentioned that I was all beefed up for the Premier of "Money No Enough 2".

Photobucket

If you have not caught it, I recommend you take a day off, and bring your mom with you, to the movies!

I did not catch "Money No Enough", the first movie, but like they said, whether we missed out or not, the second movie will definitely not be a let down. And it indeed was not a let down!

Here's the synopsis:

Taken from "http://sg.movies.yahoo.com/Money+No+Enough+2/movie/14707/"

Following the success of "Money No Enough" (1998) ten years ago, which is undoubtedly Singapore's biggest box-office hit with an unsurpassed S$5.8 million, Jack Neo along with co-stars Mark Lee and Henry Thia are back in "Money No Enough 2".

I have always been a great fan of Jack Neo's movie because I feel that he represents the entire Singapore as ONE VOICE.

There are many Singaporeans out there who want to stand up for their own rights, "rebelling" against the policies made by the government. Shunning the "efforts" of the PAP to make Singapore a better place. Many fear the Government, thus supporting the PAP. But how many are truly satisfied with the efforts? Like mentioned in the movie, Singaporeans complain, complain, complain. Then when it becomes an issue, they avoid it, because it isn't their problem. And soon enough, when the issue settles down, everyone has to adapt to the changes.

True, Singapore is an independent country, and the people are great. But with the rapid change in the modernized world, Singapore is becoming more Money-minded, and fear for their face and money, than to literally aid in improving Singapore.

This movie speaks of the "silent" Singapore voices that were unable to make a change. It embarrasses us Singaporeans to sit and watch this movie in awe, feeling "why have I not done that?".

It also shows how we, the future generation, be it a working adult, or a youth, tend to neglect our parents. Although our parents tend to give that "don't worry about me, I'm fine. Anything lah.", we should never take it for granted that they are happy where they are. In this movie, apart from the ERP, PAP, it also shows how an elderly mom who suffers from Dementia, who took care of her children, gave up her Life, just because she witness how umwilling her children were in taking care of her, and splitting the money to pay her medical bills.

It's sad to see this happening in our country, one where we thought was safe and clean. But it's mainly because we're ignorant to what's going on INSIDE. I'm glad Jack Neo made the movies that he did.

I would give a standing ovation, if I could.

Jack Neo is like Singapore's very own Micheal Moore.

Not sure who he is?

He's the one man that America's after. The man, who slammed George W. Bush through his documentaries that actually revealed the truth behind September 11th and other shows. I got a glimpse of one of his movie "Sicko" and I am impressed.

Yeah, Jack Neo reminds me of him, Singapore Style. I just hope Singapore government does not ban his movies, because afterall, it's the TRUTH.

Anyway, enough words. I'll the let the pictures do the talking.

We were given money after the movie, thanking us for taking time off on a Monday to watch a late movie, that ended at 11.30pm.

Photobucket

No, I lied. They were vouchers.

It was the premier, and so the casts, directors, hosts and lot's more famous people came. I only got a few shots of the actors like Jack Neo and Mark Lee (those who came into the movie screening hall). But actresses like Felicia Chin and the cute LaoZhaBor came! No pictures of them though.

That's all that I have from the Movie! However, there's more photos that I took at Vivocity!

I brought my mum to the Top most floor, where I showed her the pool, and the lovely scenery leading to Sentosa.

While waiting for the movie to start, I managed to snap some photos which intrigued me.

This is a structure on the Top Floor. I like the intercepting image it sets. And I think the Beijing Olympics got their stadium idea from this? I don't know, you decide.
