And she's only 11!

A local talent that won my heart overnight.

On the last day of Famine Camp 2011, special guests and performers were invited to celebrate the end of the 30 hours fast. One of the guests invited to perform was Jill-Marie Thomas. She is actually the winner of One Moment of Glory. To be really honest, I was pretty skeptical about how good she was because I was not really a fan of local talent.

However, the moment she started singing on stage, I instantaneously fell in love with her voice! And it takes mad props for someone to be able to pull off a cover of WonderGirl's "Nobody" so well that she got to advance in the competition (she joined the competition as a challenger and managed to knock them out with her unique renditions).

She is definitely one local talent that I would not mind supporting. Check out her awesome medley cover of Pokerface/ I kissed a girl below. MAD LOVE FOR THIS LADY!

More Hilarious Videos!

Taken from the description: "A day in the life of a typical working class Singaporean named Terry reveals to us many Singaporean characteristics that we do not pay much attention to. This film shows how little things can bring out the "singaporean-ness" in us, and gives us a good reason to be proud of our country. ".

Just be wary of who the person might actually be, the next time you plan on "jio-ing"/ whistling at someone.

What the actor and actress in Titanic, actually wanted to say. In hokkien!

This video is a parody of Wonder Girl's 'Nobody'. Done by Mr Brown and gang, they comeback with hilarious lyrics (to the tune of Nobody) based on the recent H1Ni pandemic.

And what good way to end this post other than to show you my favourite video? Pokemon used to be one of my favourite cartoons but I soon got confused over the many versions of it.

And this my friends, is an awesome video of the Pokemon theme song.

Enjoy!

Video!

I once dedicated an entire post to videos found on Youtube a long time ago. I posted videos such as the Tamil thriller, the colourful Hokkien Songs, the two talented guys, and also, the two hilarious girls.

Now, over the years, we've seen tonnes of videos of people performing covers of great artistes. And we've seen many hilarious parodies of certain artistes as well. In fact, I've even seen subliminal messages in some videos such as Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven (below).

Even songs by Rihanna were not left untouched. The wonders of Youtube.

We've seen and heard all of this already. So what's new?

The Hokkien Version of Rihanna's hit song, "Umbrella"!

Till then!

Yes, it's a new layout for my blog. Fresher, cleaner look. And of course, with a huge writing space for my posts.

Susan Boyle

I can't believe my eyes and ears! She really show how idiotic we are, as we still judge by the covers of the book, in this case, her looks. But once she opens her mouth and sings, even Simon Cowell goes all dreamy!

Talents

I caught the first episode of Campus Superstar 2009 today. I must admit, this year's batch is very talented! And to make the show even special, there is actually a Malay contestant! Shera should have joined too.

I really like how the show was done. And I am supporting the guys this year, even though there isn't a gender competition going on. I must say my favourite is the Chinese guy. The plump one. But I don't really like his habit of licking his lips while singing.

And I think the rocker chick who sang with Geraldine, has a really nice voice too!

Who are you supporting?

Dance!

Putting all those negativity aside, it's time to share videos! I must say, that the dance "Sexy Love" done by Ivan and Allison in "So You Think You Can Dance" is ranked number one in my heart. I really like it alot, and I think that this pretty much show that Hip Hop isn't always about 'Gansta' moves.

And then I did more Youtube-ing on "So You Think You Can Dance" and found another dance which I really liked alot. This is done by Chelsea and Mark, using the song "Bleeding Love".

By this time, I was like a mad person searching Youtube. And I found other dance videos which are really impressive.

Enjoy!

Who ever said Robot Dance was "out"? Uniqlo brings it back with style.

Another robot dance, this time done by a Japanese named Takahiro. His moves are like water, so smooth. And check his flexibility!

Then there was Star Search. Okay some of you may already know that Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera were from Star Search. But did you know that Justin timberlake, Wade Robson and David Archuleta were from it too?

And who would have thought that the Justin Timberlake now, was all country then?

And it seems like Wade Robson had his talent since he was a kid! His sleek moves are exactly the same as the Legendary Micheal Jackson. Even the ponytail seems the same!

And then there is the very adorable David Archuleta. He seems much more confident than the shy one we see on American Idol.

And I love how Sophie Oda sounds. Her voice has the "Disneyland", "Fairytale" kind of voice, if you know what I mean.

And then there are the hilarious ones. I know it's kind of bad to be laughing at a tone deaf person, but I can't help it!

End.

Irritating

One thing good about living in my flat is that it is really convenient. There's buses, the MRT station is just opposite my flat, there's a taxi stand at the MRT station, and there's three vending machines under my flat.

But after living here for 7 years, I realized that there are much more cons than pros in living in this flat. Well, to make it more direct, in my home. Well, we do have very inconsiderate neighbours who live a floor above us. They drill things, drag chairs and play with marbles at the oddest period of time in the day; at night. And when we go up to their flat to talk to them nicely, they never open the door.

Another issue about this neighbour is that they always write wrong addresses to companies, putting it as our unit, instead of theirs. And we always get their bills, and advertisements from these various companies. We were kind enough to put the letters back into their letterbox. But time and again, the letters come back to us, so much that we have given up doing the good deed or returning it to them. We either return to sender, or we simply throw it away.

The next issue is that despite the convenience, it's really irritating sometimes when you live so near the road. There's the irritating Motorbikes on the road with the deafening sounds. Then there's the frequent honk from the MRT. And there's also the every-minute message about standing behind the yellow line, and warning of not eating and drinking and so on. And not forgetting the road constructions that can last up to 11 or 12 in the middle of the night. The drilling, and screeching of metal makes it teeth-grinding.

The last issue, is about performance. Staying so near the Admiralty MRT station is bad because there are spaces big enough for Getai performances. Some songs are nice, with the lights and stuff, but having it to last till 11pm at night, can make one think twice about living in my flat.

And to make matters worst, there's an RC under my flat. And they do have the monthly or a few months get-together, where they will barbeque, and perform, singing Hokkien songs, singing their hearts out.

Don't get me wrong, RC members should have the opportunity to unwind, because it's thanks to their hard work that our papers get recycled every Sunday.

But having to hear vocally challenged people singing their lungs out from 4pm to 10pm is simply, unbearable. You feel like throwing shit down at them, but when you walk out to take aim, the heavenly smell of barbecue calms your nerves down.

Damn.

*Updated.

I'm happy, because I finally managed to dye my hair back to dark brown!

But I've been having the stomach flu for a couple of days now, I hope it doesn't affect my Christmas mood!

But on a happier note, I'm no more a lion!

Vince Mira

A while back, I had a post about a 15 year old boy who had a beautiful voice, just like Johnny Cash (together with the "4E3 Stuck In LiftEpisode"). Click Here

If you have no idea who Johnny Cash is, well, knock yourself hard on the head! Hahaha, I'm kidding. I've wiki-ed him(new word!) and if you're interested to know more about the charming man, Click Here!

What attracted me more to him was actually his voice.

That's my favourite song "Ring Of Fire", done by Johnny Cash.

Now with his unique voice, girls were all over him. He was a true sensation, and I thought no one else had a voice like him. Till I saw an episode of the Ellen Degeneres Show.

Here is the true reincarnation of the King Of Country, Johnny Cash.

His name is Vince Mira and he sure does sound like Johnny Cash, especially when he sings "Ring of Fire".

What I recommend is for you to play the video by Johnny Cash(above), and listen to it with your eyes shut. Then do the same with the video by Vince Mira(below). Then do it over and over again. Trust me, soon enough, you'll get confused as to which is the real Johnny Cash.

*Fast forward it to 1:38 to skip the interview.

He is so good, that he is on his way to stardom. He has actually released his first album. And if you are head over heels for Vince Mira, here is his MySpace and here is an Article done in Seattle.

Once again, Vince Mira, with one of my personal favourites from his album. This song is titled "Cold Hearted Woman".

And to the ladies out there, he is only sixteen! Eye Candy!
