Story (Part II)

But things took a drastic turn one day, when ......

she decided to stop by a dark alley along the streets of the market. It was a usually routine for Katie to buy some groceries for cooking every single day. And every single day, the old man would warn her to never turn into the dark alley along the street of the market.

"Oh, it wouldn't hurt, I'm sure the Old man is just trying to scare me."

Katie turned into the dark alley. The alley was wet from the morning rain and algae protruded out from the cracks of the stone wall. It reeked of decaying rats so much that Katie had to pinch her nose.

She ventured further into the dark alley, and to her surprise, there sat a small little girl, who seemed not over 4 years old.

The girl sat cross-legged and had her head down. Was she asleep?

Katie crept slowly towards her, trying her best to not make a single noise. But, just as Katie was a few inches from the girl, she accidentally kicked a pebble that flew straight to the girl's knee. The girl yelped in pain. With eyes as red as volcanic lava, she sized Katie up as though she was about to gobble her down like a ravenous man.

Out of the blue, the girl started screaming and yanked hard at Katie's hair. She had the strength of a horse, and with a pull, she managed to get Katie on her knees. Hot tears cascaded down Katie's face as she pleaded for mercy.

How could such a small innocent kid have such great strength?

The girl suddenly spoke in tongues, and started stroking Katie's throat. Before she knew it, Katie lost consciousness.

To be continued.....
