BoogerMan

You know what would be great right now? For BoogerMan to come to Life.

No, not Boogey Man.

Boogeyman Pictures, Images and Photos
That's BoogeyMan from WWE. And yes, those are Earth worms dangling from his mouth.

It's BOOGERMAN. Yes, Booger.

Boogerman Pictures, Images and Photos

Who is this BoogerMan you say?

He was the coolest anti-hero ever! Back in those days when Sega Saturn was still cool, BoogerMan was on my screen every single day. Well, to most, he would seem unlikely of a hero because of his disgusting powers, but to most kids (or maybe me), he was some awesome shizz!

(From http://www.answers.com/topic/boogerman-a-pick-and-flick-adventure)

You are Snotty Ragsdale: suave millionaire by day, unappreciated superhero by night. Your mission is to enter the bowels of the Earth to stop the evil Booger Meister from polluting the planet. The journey will take you through six worlds, each having multiple stages: Flatulent Swamps, The Pits, Boogerville, Mucous Mountains, Nasal Caverns and the mysterious Pus Palace. As Boogerman, you can use your natural powers to defeat eighteen different enemies and four bosses on your way to confront Booger Meister himself.

These abilities include the Flick, Burp, Loogie, Super Burp, Fart and Super Fart. Boogerman can also run, jump, duck, swing and fly through the air with all the grace of a young Baryshnikov. Grab various power-ups such as Milk Bottles or Chili Peppers to keep your powers running at full capacity. This 24-Meg cartridge boasts animation of up to 30 frames per second in an attempt to recreate cartoon-like visuals. A password system lets you continue your adventures at a later time, although you might not want to resume play right after dinner. . . .

And why do I want BoogerMan here, now?

Because there are just too many nasty people around. And I want them to be "booger-fied", if there is such a term. Or they could be flushed down the toilet bowls, just like how BoogerMan travels around.

I miss playing BoogerMan..

Body Measurements and Body as tool of Measurment

Don't bother asking how this post came about because I myself have no clue to it. Just go with the flow will you?

Anyway, back in those days, when the cave men had no idea as to what a ruler was, they used their bodies as tools of measurement instead. Yeah, you got that right, our body is actually a measuring "stick" to pretty much everything.

And it pretty much still is. Don't believe me? Well then, do you remember whenever your mum brought you out for shopping and you wanted to try on this pants but there wasn't any changing room around? What did your mum ask you to do?

I bet she asked you to put it around your neck.

It is said that the circumference of your neck is about the circumference of your waist. But these days, that trick doesn't work anymore because no one really wear pants on the waist. And even if I were to have something worn on the waist, the measurement would still be inaccurate, because
my booty ain't gonna' fit in there!

Photobucket

Other than the neck-waist measurement, there are many more types of measurement one(if you prefer these ancient measurements to the high tech ones) could get from your body.

Let's start with the obvious one, the foot.
In case you didn't already know,
a foot long is 12 inches, which is also 30cm. But if your feet isn't 30cm, and you really want a foot long measurement, go get the foot long sandwich at Subway.

Next.

The measurement from one's elbow to fingertip is called a
Cubit. It derives from the Latin word Cubitum. And depending on who's forearm that was used back then, the Cubit varied from 18 to 22 inches.

And did you know that the measurement from your elbow to your wrist is about equivalent to your feet? So the next time you head to a shoe shop and your feet is pretty stinky, just use your forearm as a reference. Hahah.

Next.

The rule of the Thumb. It pretty much was created by Carpenters who used their thumbs for measurement.

Back then, there was even a law that permitted husbands to beating their wives with anything "no larger in circumference than his thumb".

Just so you know, the widths of the thumb is approximately an inch wide.

Next.

A handful of grain is definitely an approximation rather than an accurate measurement.
And a hair-breath was once a formal unit that was equal to one-forty-eighth of an inch.

And did you know that the measurement from a thumb to the last fingered, of an outstretched hand is around 9 inches apart. And that back then, is called a
Span.

A hand is about four inches long.

And a
Fathom is the measurement of outstretched arms, fingertips to fingertips, which is approximately your body's height.

Three fingers is the size of a shot glass.
Enough about the hands, more on to the other body parts!

The length of both your feet, (from heel to toe) is equal to the length of your lower leg (kneecap to floor).

Speaking of feet, did you know that the length of your feet is about the height of your skull?

And that the length of your thumb is about the same as your ear?

I bet you just tested it out.

And the the first joint of you last finger is about the same size as the interior of your nostril.
No wonder Phua Chu Kang always picked his nose with his last finger!

Photobucket

Now there are definitely many other parts of the body that was used as a measuring tool. But I'm not gonna' list them all over here.

You should go crazy and search them on your own yeah.
If you're more interested in the whole conspiracy thing about the calculations of the body, then you should Click Here!

And on to more intriguing estimations about the Human Body....

Now people, take a look at your ring finger and forefinger. Which one is longer than the other?

"Successful sprinters and endurance athletes are more likely to have long ring fingers than the also-rans, according to new research – based on the running speeds and times of young men.

Athletes with long ring fingers in relation to their index fingers also had superior aerobic capacity."

And now check your height and the progress of it over the years.

"A number of studies have linked increasing height with a lower risk of heart disease and an increased risk of prostate cancer."

And now check your legs out.

"A study based in the West of Scotland shows that longer legs, but not trunks, are associated with lower blood pressure, and more favourable levels of cholesterol and body mass index than trunk length. A study reported in the British Medical Journal showed that the risk of breast and prostate cancers increases with height. "

And to the ladies, go measure your hips.

"Women with small waists and larger hips – a low waist to hip ratio – and their children perform better in intelligence tests, according one study. " "A waist-hip ratio of 0.7 – a waist circumference that is 70 per cent of the hip circumference has been shown to be the most attractive to men. "

And lastly, everyone, go measure your fingers!

Divide the index finger length by the ring finger length, which gives you the ratio. If these fingers are the same length, the ratio is one, which is an average female ratio. If the ring finger is longer, the ratio is less than one, which is typically male. A ratio of 0.97 is about the average for males, but in elite runners, the ratio can be down to 0.9. In some men, the ring finger can be up as much as a centimetre longer than the index finger.

And before I end, I'd like to share this article I found on the net:

"Do you ever remember, as a child, trying to catch a bubble with your hands and feel it? It was impossible -- it would pop. You could feel the popping of the bubble, but you would never feel the bubble in its true form.
Do you remember seeing how easily the grass can catch them without them popping? Have you ever wished you could be like the grass, and feel a bubble?

Well, if you have hairy arms, you're in luck!

Here's what you do: Make a nice thick bubble, using plenty of bubble stuff. Let it down gently from your bubble wand on to your arm. If you do this correctly, the bubble will not pop and it will stick to your arm hair! And you will be able to feel the bubble's weight, and bounce it around, and generally be happy with your new friend! Hooray!"

Now we all know what hairy arms are good for!

I don't have super hairy arms, the ones with hair standing, but I'd sure like to see someone do this trick!

There's a song stuck in my head

Have you ever been in a situation where you couldn't stop humming/whistling to this song stuck in your head? Fortunately, I do know the title of the song, and so all I had to do was to get it. But boy, was it stuck in my head forever!

You see, after watching the show Juno (Click Here!), I found myself humming/whistling to the song that was played at the end of the movie.

Why the song got stuck to my head, is because of it's simple catchy tune. Well, if you don't believe me, hear it for yourself.

This is the one that was played at the end of the movie:

And I suppose the tune is pretty much stuck to your head to eh?

Hahah!

In a modern world like ours, technology allows us to follow the lives of our idols.

Fashion becomes a religion, and celebrities become the "Gods".

Celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Paris Hilton, Kanye West set the trends and we follow. Come on, who have not heard of Kanye's specs? And who have not wanted Paris Hilton bod?

Girls go anorexic, and many splurge tonnes of money just to look as good as the "Gods". (Click Here to read about my post on Vanity and perfection.)

We feel unsatisfied with what we have, and we feel insecure looking how we are, because the "Gods" are always a level or two ahead of us.

Now not only do we follow the trends of the "Gods", but we follow the things that they introduce into our world. From diet pills or any other aesthetic products, to the 'light-heartedness'of marriage. No, I'm not saying that all celebrities who get divorce are wicked, nor do they not have the right to get a divorce.

What I'm saying is that people, majority of us,despite teaching kids to never learn "Monkey see, Monkey do", we often fall into this puddle of misinterpretation that 'the "Gods" did it, so can I'.

Through the media and paparazzi, we learn about celebs drunk driving, fighting, going to jail. And which, I might add, they make it sound so simple and easy. Kids, adolescence think that by imitating how their celebs behave or dress in public, they would instantaneously be cool.

Again, I am not saying that media and celebrities are to blame for all the happenings around the world. I'm just speaking of the Influence it has caused.

Speaking Influence, I believe that the whole "Chris Brown 'Beat Her Down' with Rihanna" would not be at peace. For one, Rihanna's face was bruised all over. Secondly, she decided to get back together with him, despite family, friends and fans, encouraging her to leave Chris Brown. And lastly, they're actually married now.(Click Here to read about my post on Chris Brown and Rihanna.)

Now this whole issue with Chris Brown allegedly hitting Rihanna has definitely brought
Teenage Dating Violence under the limelight.

"Chris Brown did it and Rihanna still married him, so can I".
"Rihanna loves Chris Brown despite him beating her. I love my Bf too, so I'll stay with him, despite him beating me".

These are the misconceptions that kids in relationships would have.

I do believe that more and more cases of abusive relationships would come to surface in a matter of time.

Did you know that 1 out of 5 teens have reportedly been physically and sexually abused by their partners? And girls ageing from 16 to 24 are the majority of the victims in these abusive relationships. As said by Katie Couric.

This is no laughing matter.

Abusive relationship is indeed a crime. Love should not hurt, and if it does, ask for help or tell it to someone else.

If he hits you once, he'll hit you again. As said by Oprah Winfrey.

Even Tyra Banks has stepped in on the action.
Click Here to Watch The Video On The Tyra Banks Show

So girls, don't be a fool to go on with the relationship just because you love him. If he hit you, he doesn't love you. Leave him because he just isn't worth your love.

Come on, say it with me now...

I am so young, so... I will say NO to Teenage Dating Violence!

One more time now!

I am so young, so... I will say NO to Teenage Dating Violence!

Take your stand. Do the right thing. Love yourself for who you are, and never let yourself or your body be a victim to any abuse. If you need help, there are many websites that you can go to, to seek help. You can even sign yourself through counselling, or even tell your closest kin about it. Anyone can help, if you are willing to open up.

Here are some sites to visit:

PS: I do not stereotype people and I never said that all guys are abusive.
And I would have this post up even if I did not take part in this competition. I saw this opportunity, and so I thought, why not merge the two ideas. And hey, this post came about.

Winnenden school shooting

When I read in the papers about the school shooting that occured in Winnenden, Germany, I couldn't help but search it up on the net.

This shooting is actually the bloodiest one in Germany, and this chap had gotten so famous, that there are already wikipedia pages about and the shootings.

Photobucket

Well, if you did not catch the news about him and the shooting, let me put it in short and sweetly.

Apparently Tim Kretschner, who was a former student from Albertville school, had given "notices" to his parents and someone in a chat-room that he was going back to his old school. He felt that students there mocked him and he was pretty much sick and tired of it.

And so he decided to go on a rampage. He shot the victims in the head, which actually meant that this was no random shooting. 8 out of the 9 students shot were female, and all three teachers shot were women as well.

Click Here To Read More About Tim Kretschmer

Click Here To Read More About Winnenden School Shooting

Since this news is still pretty "fresh", stories from all over the net are saying different things, as to how many are dead and so on.

Do correct me about the deaths in the shooting though.

Click Here To Watch A News Report On The Shooting.

Click Here To Watch Another News Report

My heart goes out to all those who has suffered losses in this shooting. I feel really bad for those victims killed in the shooting. I feel that no matter how much you hate that person for mocking you, one should never take away another person's life.

This is a real tragedy and it pretty much saddens me, and I'm sure, all of you. Schools there, places where we can knowledge, can simply turn into an edifice of massacre in a flash. Imagine having the time of your life with your friends, and the next day, some of your friends, or even you, die from a shooting.

The horror and trauma of not knowing where the safest place is. Even on the streets, there would be guns, drug dealers, fights and so on.

And to be honest, I am pretty glad that Singapore imposes a strict rule on weaponry. I am glad that we Singaporeans, can stay safely and comfortably at home. I am glad that our schools are safe from this shootings as well.

I do hope that these shootings do stop. For it is not worth of the innocent blood that is shed.
