In a modern world like ours, technology allows us to follow the lives of our idols.

Fashion becomes a religion, and celebrities become the "Gods".

Celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Paris Hilton, Kanye West set the trends and we follow. Come on, who have not heard of Kanye's specs? And who have not wanted Paris Hilton bod?

Girls go anorexic, and many splurge tonnes of money just to look as good as the "Gods". (Click Here to read about my post on Vanity and perfection.)

We feel unsatisfied with what we have, and we feel insecure looking how we are, because the "Gods" are always a level or two ahead of us.

Now not only do we follow the trends of the "Gods", but we follow the things that they introduce into our world. From diet pills or any other aesthetic products, to the 'light-heartedness'of marriage. No, I'm not saying that all celebrities who get divorce are wicked, nor do they not have the right to get a divorce.

What I'm saying is that people, majority of us,despite teaching kids to never learn "Monkey see, Monkey do", we often fall into this puddle of misinterpretation that 'the "Gods" did it, so can I'.

Through the media and paparazzi, we learn about celebs drunk driving, fighting, going to jail. And which, I might add, they make it sound so simple and easy. Kids, adolescence think that by imitating how their celebs behave or dress in public, they would instantaneously be cool.

Again, I am not saying that media and celebrities are to blame for all the happenings around the world. I'm just speaking of the Influence it has caused.

Speaking Influence, I believe that the whole "Chris Brown 'Beat Her Down' with Rihanna" would not be at peace. For one, Rihanna's face was bruised all over. Secondly, she decided to get back together with him, despite family, friends and fans, encouraging her to leave Chris Brown. And lastly, they're actually married now.(Click Here to read about my post on Chris Brown and Rihanna.)

Now this whole issue with Chris Brown allegedly hitting Rihanna has definitely brought
Teenage Dating Violence under the limelight.

"Chris Brown did it and Rihanna still married him, so can I".
"Rihanna loves Chris Brown despite him beating her. I love my Bf too, so I'll stay with him, despite him beating me".

These are the misconceptions that kids in relationships would have.

I do believe that more and more cases of abusive relationships would come to surface in a matter of time.

Did you know that 1 out of 5 teens have reportedly been physically and sexually abused by their partners? And girls ageing from 16 to 24 are the majority of the victims in these abusive relationships. As said by Katie Couric.

This is no laughing matter.

Abusive relationship is indeed a crime. Love should not hurt, and if it does, ask for help or tell it to someone else.

If he hits you once, he'll hit you again. As said by Oprah Winfrey.

Even Tyra Banks has stepped in on the action.

So girls, don't be a fool to go on with the relationship just because you love him. If he hit you, he doesn't love you. Leave him because he just isn't worth your love.

Come on, say it with me now...

I am so young, so... I will say NO to Teenage Dating Violence!

One more time now!

I am so young, so... I will say NO to Teenage Dating Violence!

Take your stand. Do the right thing. Love yourself for who you are, and never let yourself or your body be a victim to any abuse. If you need help, there are many websites that you can go to, to seek help. You can even sign yourself through counselling, or even tell your closest kin about it. Anyone can help, if you are willing to open up.

Here are some sites to visit:

PS: I do not stereotype people and I never said that all guys are abusive.
And I would have this post up even if I did not take part in this competition. I saw this opportunity, and so I thought, why not merge the two ideas. And hey, this post came about.

Do support me! If you want to, that is.

Winnenden school shooting

When I read in the papers about the school shooting that occured in Winnenden, Germany, I couldn't help but search it up on the net.

This shooting is actually the bloodiest one in Germany, and this chap had gotten so famous, that there are already wikipedia pages about and the shootings.

Photobucket

Well, if you did not catch the news about him and the shooting, let me put it in short and sweetly.

Apparently Tim Kretschner, who was a former student from Albertville school, had given "notices" to his parents and someone in a chat-room that he was going back to his old school. He felt that students there mocked him and he was pretty much sick and tired of it.

And so he decided to go on a rampage. He shot the victims in the head, which actually meant that this was no random shooting. 8 out of the 9 students shot were female, and all three teachers shot were women as well.

Since this news is still pretty "fresh", stories from all over the net are saying different things, as to how many are dead and so on.

Do correct me about the deaths in the shooting though.

My heart goes out to all those who has suffered losses in this shooting. I feel really bad for those victims killed in the shooting. I feel that no matter how much you hate that person for mocking you, one should never take away another person's life.

This is a real tragedy and it pretty much saddens me, and I'm sure, all of you. Schools there, places where we can knowledge, can simply turn into an edifice of massacre in a flash. Imagine having the time of your life with your friends, and the next day, some of your friends, or even you, die from a shooting.

The horror and trauma of not knowing where the safest place is. Even on the streets, there would be guns, drug dealers, fights and so on.

And to be honest, I am pretty glad that Singapore imposes a strict rule on weaponry. I am glad that we Singaporeans, can stay safely and comfortably at home. I am glad that our schools are safe from this shootings as well.

I do hope that these shootings do stop. For it is not worth of the innocent blood that is shed.

From all walks of Life

Sometimes when I come home from a bad day, I question Fate. I ask 'him' why he had forced me to meet that person or people that had to ruin my day. I ask 'him' why they had to break my heart and dampen my mood.

And sometimes, when I come home from a blissful day, I thank Fate for allowing me to meet awesome people that brighten my life. I thank 'him' for allowing special people to enter my life. Not only have they made me feel special, treated so fine, but they also painted my life with colours. Colours that are called 'joy and laughter'.

Have you thanked Fate yet?

Photobucket

(Don't worry. I'm not dying. But wouldn't it be awesome if we had something like this?)

One day, when I woke up, I finally found Fate's answer to my question.

You see, if you stare hard enough at your reflection's eyes, you'd see your soul. And in your soul's hand, would be a tape. Play the tape in your head as you replay the emotions, events and re-meet the people you know.

In Life, there are some who praise you so that you feel the accomplishment and feel good to do much better.

Then there are some who jump at any given chance to thumb you down, humiliate you by lashing at you without any mercy. And by then, you'd be so crossed with them, that you'd forget about your failure. Then you'd realize that it isn't worth it to torture yourself any longer.

There are some who open their arms widely to welcome you, encourage you and give you chances to show your worth. Then there are some who simply reject you. Not only are you disappointed, but you find the courage to pick yourself up and move on, to try harder.

There are some who love you only for the things you have. You'd feel welcomed at first, but soon after, you'd realize that happiness isn't about materials, and these people aren't worth it. Then you'd meet people who love you for who you are. Not only would you feel comfortable, but you learn to behave well enough.

No matter who you meet, just know that there's a reason as to why they're there. So learn from the incidents that happened, and grow from it.

Is Love Really Blind?

I was blog-hopping as usual when I came across a meaningful post from iWicked Chronicles. The post was set in a time before humans existed, where virtues and vices roamed Earth freely. It talked about how the saying "Love is Blind" cam about.

And this is how the story began.....

This is dedicated to everyone.

Machines Of Malice part one: My Vicious childhood

I've edited the time for this post so that you'll read part one first, and then part two. Just so that you get what I'm talking.

If you've never been sadistic for a period of your life, that means you're gifted.

What do I mean by Gifted? Well, it means that you're so happy that you never once thought about bitch slapping someone, strangling someone to death, or any horrific thoughts of death on someone you despise. Yes, you're so happy that you're probably screwed in the head.

I however, used to be (or maybe am still) a sadistic person. As a child, I always waited for rainy days to come because it would mean that there would be tonnes of earthworm at, on, and around the playground where I used to stay. I would happily dig those poor drowning worms up and happily display them on the swings, slides and all the spots on the playground, even dangling on the rooftops. Then I would hide and wait for some stupid kid to go out and play. Where I lived, kids were squeamish. And a loud shriek from a girl who found an earthworm wriggling in her hair would make my day.

Now the fun did not end there.

Sometimes when the kids did not come out to play, I would take an earthworm and mutilate it. The awe of it's survival despite being severely mutilated, enticed me to cut it up into many more segments. Then I would take it's head (or was it the tail?) and throw it near a nest of ants to see what happens.

If that didn't cure my needs, I would then search for
humungous (exaggerated slang) black ants and similarly sized red ones and have them attack each other. Little did I know that I was already having my own "WarCraft/ Command & Conquer" game going on.

(I actually had a lot of fighting fish back then to fight.. Duh..

But they were too beautiful so I kept them instead. But one day when I came home from school, I found all of them dead, because my brother made them fight one another. Was I depressed then..)

The red ones always seem to be victorious.

But I wasn't satisfied, and so, I'd take two red ants and interlock their pincers. Sometimes, I'd even throw in a spider of two. But mind you, I've been bitten a little too many times just for the sake of my curiosity. When it hurt too much for me to enjoy it, I'd then take chalk and draw circles around the ants. It's funny because ants just can't seem to walk across chalk. (I once did it by drawing a line in front of an ant, and it couldn't walk across it. Sadistic as I was back then, I couldn't help but to draw a circle, and then they were stuck in there forever.)

Don't get me started on the plucking of wings and legs. I'm sadistic, I know. Sue me.

After victorious exclaiming that they were at my mercy, I'd walk away and find some other insect to mess around with. And then I found snails...

I'd sprinkle salt all over them and watch in amazement as they squirm and struggle in their last throes of ressurection. Now don't blame me for being sadistic, one has to resort to ways before one can answer their own curiosity. And if you're wondering why snails and slugs die how they do, it's because of Osmosis.

*Side track (I may have failed Bio but I clearly remember Bio's Osmosis, because of that experiment that got my mind screwed. Hahah)

Snails and slugs have a high percentage of water in their body. Their skin is also more permeable and so when you pour salt all over the snail, the salt concentration on the outer surface is more than in the body of the snail. Osmosis is of a net movement of water molecules from a region higher water concentration to a region lower water concentration through a partially permeable membrane, in this case, the skin.

Thus, the water in the body of the snail, moves out of the body in order to have an equal concentration both on the surface and in the body. The snail then dies from dehydration because it is much dryer than it is.

(See! I made it without having to check any bio book! Okay, action ah..)

There were too many experiments that I carried in which I can't remember. Those mentioned above are the ones that I would do almost every single day. I was a lonely child then. Evil demons must have possessed me back then.

You should have seen when I had swung at full rage against red ants.

This is actually not the point of the post though, I wasted space just talking about my childhood and not the topic of the post. But who cares.

Part two, the actual post, shall be up next!
